Well..the Valves are "normally closed"...so a lack of power would result in them closing. Oh...and thanks Squirrel...thanks to my search for relays...all the side ads on LOLCats are now relay-related.

this is not at my home,its for where i work..i am looking for a cheap way to automate it..Squirrel, why do you need the solar powered yard lights? Just hook your sprinklers up to a timer.
I've never installed a sprinkler system. I did a little research and all of the valves I found run on 24VAC. Squirrel...anyway you have a look at your valves and see what the voltage is? Where did the 9 volt number come from?
