Xbox 360

I've killed yet another XBOX. Admittedly I'm a little of zealous with my methods at dealing with the deaths, I can't be bothered trying to get somewhere with customer support so I make the kills count. That makes two for me, From the people I know they've had various numbers of boxes die over the years, one of them had Seven die in total.

Anyhow the problem I'm having is that the actual problem was a 5 minute fix with a bit of glue. The Hitachi DVD drive has a small donut shaped magnetic metal piece that's suppose to align the top spindle with the centre of the moving spindle. Unfortunately for some reason the metal just got sucked right out of the moving spindle due to it's magnetic power and stuck to the top spindle, I had to crack open the case to fix this problem (and of course open up the DVD drive)

The problem is now down to Microsoft's DRM methods of controlling the drive with the overall hardware, it no longer believes the drive (or XBOX in general) to be a true XBOX 360 so gives me some tall tale about 'Playing the disc in an XBOX 360'.

Admittedly it's interesting to see that it doesn't have the three lights of death and can still play DVD's, unfortunately though it now has it's "Emperor's New cloths" on which basically mean it's no longer got a case, it's stripped bare.

I admittedly Felt very near to flinging it against the nearest hard place for a destructive ends to yet another box, however I'm putting it off just in case I can resolve the problem. Anyhow I think I'm going to be back to PC gaming and Modification at least for the most part they are easier to fix and you can DIY all you like.

My XBOX 360 had the 3 red lights appear just after a year of having it - apparently this is a fault all XBOX 360's have, they die after a year. And my warranty had just expired - luckily my friend works at GAME so he sneakily let me pay for a 3 year warranty which I think was £30 and gave me a new one.

I would advise to pay for the 3 year warranty when you get a replacement.

And make sure you dont have it stood long ways up, and never have anything covering it, as it easily over heats.

CALL OF DUTY 4 ROCKS!

Im thinking on getting one of the new consoles (360 or ps3) but im not sure witch one i should get.
Got any sugestions?

I've heard of plenty of original Xbox 360's that have never had any problems, so I guess it's not ALL 360's that are defective.

It is just the ones sent to Europe. Maybe the Japanese and the Americans are antagonizing you guys. Or maybe China, wherever they make them:D

drop the money on a ps3 it is more reliable and sony has a good record of supporting its systems for a long time. the games list is not quite as diverse as the 360 but that doesn't really matter if the system has crapped out.

And next year the all improved PS 4 will be on the shelves to buy all over again.

its getting to be a joke now, i know tecnoligy changes but who needs all the new consoles?

my son, has a lot of consoles and cant even play them all because you can only play one at a time

imo you should just stick to one line of console ie - ps1 ps2 ps2

or - xbox - xbox 360 -->

if you do i like that yo probs replace only every 1.5 - 2.5 yrs

and thats not that bad

mobile phones are even worse.
