Why flat earth?

Is there anyone here that can tell me how to delete a thread that we've started, after someone has come in and tainted it with nonsense?

If you remove the word "spaghetti", we can prove that in the evolutionary process of life on earth there were flying monsters at one time. Pterodactyl was a big monster able to fly.

And the shape of the spaghetti monster can be found in the oceans. Giant Ooctopus is a big monster with eight tentacles, able to live in water.

But this is not evidence that a flying spaghetti monster does or could exist, especially if such a construct is assigned "magical" powers.

Even as photons travel in a purely straight line, they still curve in a large gravitational field. This was proven by direct observation. It's not the fact that photons travel in a straight line, it is that spacetime itself curves in a large gravitational field.
Antonsen demonstrates that a set of purely straight lines still can create a curved space, a parabola.

If you haven't seen it yet, it's really amazing watching this unfold by drawing a set of straight line.

Tell that friend to take a bus going at 50 mph and throwing the ball at 50mph forward and then throwing it backward at 50 mph, inside the bus. I guarantee that the ball will travel away from him at 50 mph in either direction. Make sure its a very soft ball. :biggrin:

The reality is that if he is throwing the ball forward it will travel at 50 mph away from him, but will travel at 100 mph forward relative to the outside landscape.

If he throws the ball backward it will travel away from him at 50 mph, but will stand still relative to the outside landscape.

Hopefully it might give him a glimpse of the concept of relativity. Keep it simple, so that he can experiment for himself.

If he refuses to do that simple experiment, then I'm afraid your friend is simply not interested in (or afraid of) gaining understanding how the world really works.

You'll have to actually demonstrate it. It is very difficult to change a person's hallucination, unless you physically demonstrate his hallucination is false.
The person must actually have an experience to reprogram the mirror neural network in his brain.

You're smart, think of a real demonstration. Something simple that is indisputably true . Words alone cannot always do that.

Don't fall into the same trap as our dropout electronics student. Showing instances that are consistent with a theory does not logically preclude the possibility of a future instance that contradicts it.

If i'm fast enough, he gets to attack the sole of my shoe
on a good day, we have what could be described as an armed truce

his approach to sex often seems like rape
but
all the younger female chickens seem to cluster around him

I think I have "figgured": social and sexual behaviour in poultry has only limited parallels with that in the human race.

lumping all of us into the human race assumes a homogeneity which may or may not exist for any given behavior or sample/sub set within the set "human race"

perhaps,
the rooster attacks during periods of high testosterone
( the attack and the sex follow his doing a sideways dance, then dropping his away wing just before the attack/sex)(when I see that, i don't take my eyes off him)

To be pedantic:

Evolution is fact. We can watch it happen in any petri dish, dog kennel or fish store.
What is theoretical is the theory of evolution by natural selection.
