Where it's predicted that in the next two weeks, the Wii will have sold over 35M units? Or that the PS3 will magically tie the 360 at the end of this fiscal year as well? Heh. Well, they have until March to do so. Not only does Sony have to sell over 1M consoles for the next 3 months, but MS has to wind up selling none. Good luck.
And Sony is aiming for 2011, ooo wow. Personally by then, I don't care who wins the console race as the previous 4 years were awesome with others in the lead. By then, the PS3 will be down to $200 like the PS2 was and get a new surge of customers, but it'll be too late especially with the lost revenue from a price cut like that. 2011? I'll be buying my next-next gen console then.
How so? Because we aren't gonna waste money buying a bunch of 3rd party games that are also on a less expensive console than the PS3 with better online play and a larger library of games such as the 360? There's no reason to buy a PS3 with the few exclusives that it has. At the end of '08 and beginning of '09 there will be at least three good games for it (hopefully still exclusives by then, which I doubt MGS will still be), but that's a long ass time away, long enough for more developers to jump ship and/or decide to make their games crossplatform to make some money.
Personally, all the evidence of us being "moron gamers" points towards you being one. I guess the whole world are nothing but moron gamers for not buying a PS3. I guess all PS3 owners are morons for their supposed best game on the system, Uncharted, being uncharted, having only sold 117k copies. If they bomb on one console, others will pick up the sales no problem, especially the way 360 owners seem to gobble up software non-stop with their numerous 1M+ game debuts.

And, in the end, it isn't going to lose its brand name. Pretty simple. We're going to see a hell of a lot of sony games come out, which is why people are buying the consol.

Well, yeah, considering Microsoft is PC gaming. While Nintendo and Sony each have two systems (DS+PSP), most count the Microsoft and the 360 as one, but fail to add that Microsoft has PC games as well, especially with Vista and their new Live! crossplatform online gaming system.
I don't care about MS porting to PC and it's one of the reasons why I don't even own a 360. If I want killer graphics, I got my PC, which as you mentioned, will have it's fair share of console ports. The only unique console this round is the Wii, who's experience cannot be had on any other gaming system.
But all the 360 ports are gonna suck anyways. Just like with HALO, HALO 2, Gears of War, etc, they take way too long to port so the buzz has died down. Gears of War was funny in that they released it when Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Unreal Tournament, and a few other games were released. As if they think GoW could compete with those powerhouses, lol. Ports are too late, but hey, cool I guess if you wanna play em later.
