I'm certainly far better off then my parents were, [who were not that far above what could be called the poverty line] and my Son is achieving great goals in what he is doing. It's very easy to say people are rebelling against the amorphous "system", but what does that mean? People are living longer and healthier than at anytime in human history. Violence and crime rates are at historical lows. People are working less and have more leisure time than at any time in human history. They are earning more; they have more disposable income that at anytime in human history. Unemployment in the US is basically nil. Every indicator shows the US is at or near full employment. So just what is the reason for the discontent? What is the reason for this rebellion? What changed?
My Old school boys reunion [around an attendance of 12 now after a couple of them kicked the bucket]are all in the same boat as I...some better off then I, others not, but all agree, better off then our parents were.
We have a similar situation in Australia where all politicians are hated. And why is Hilary the most second most hated person in America? What has Hilary done to merit that distinction? I'm not looking for warmed over political rhetoric. I'm looking for well founded reasons.
I often ask the question, "where do politicians come from?"
It scares me...It scares me as to how a Western super power could ever let such a buffoon so close to the Presidency.Trump's ego and more specifically his pathological narcissism should scare you. It should scare everyone, especially every red blooded American. If you think things are bad now, just put a narcissistic personality disordered person in the Oval Office.
Politics in Australia over the last decade or so [remember we have had 5 PM's! in 5 years] highlights the general discontent in our country. What I do see is a right wing party in its death throes. The left is united. The American right isn't.
Although over the last decade or so, each ruling government has had a hostile senate on near all occasions, with a myriad of minor parties holding the balance of power.
Our way I suggest of keeping checks and balances on the House of Rep's
Is there any country totally satisfied with their lot?No. Like it or not it is what it is. Now we can always change course. But where do you want to go? What needs to be improved? What needs to be changed and why? Why do you think the current path is wrong and why? What would be better?
Australia also has its own National debt...is there a government that doesn't?
The problem as I see it is the ease with which we are able to obtain information and subsequently propaganda and biased commentary..Then claims, we are all doomed! etc etc and people start feeling uneasy.
No one can label me left or right imo.
Once as a Delegate/Organizer in the early 70's after a 5 week strike with the firm for which I was working, I helped broker a deal that saw a handsome wage rise, along with conditions that the company accepted, and seeing a return to work.
That day after the deal was brokered, I was labelled a dirty rotten bosses man by a group of blokes: That same afternoon, I was labelled a dirty rotten commo left wing arsehole.
I went home that day, confident I had done a reasonable job for the majority.
