If someone who is gay can't rule impartially on issues related to sexual orientation, then doesn't that imply exactly the same thing about someone who is straight?
Yes.
And that's why this was an idiotic position for the VA Republicans to take. To put it bluntly, EVERYONE is SOMETHING. We all have a racial and ethnic background, a sexual orientation, a religious belief or lack thereof, etc.
I know nothing about this judge, so I can't say whether or not he would be a good choice for this position. But being gay, in and of itself, should be irrelevant.
