I'm bored. I tend to like lots of vegetables. They're healthy (when you take care of them properly!) and good for our health as well.

So, here is a list of vegetables. Mark any of them that you like/love/simply couldn't live without. Tell us about your love/hate relationship with that special creature of God. How do you prefer to eat that veggie? Raw? Cooked? Fried in the unhealthiest of ways?

Does the veggie have any special effects on your biological entity?
Allergies?

The possibilities are truly endless!

Note: there is no way in hell that this list can be exhaustive or complete. Maybe popular choices can be added on by a mod if requested?

I almost added Radish and Mushrooms, but neither quite makes it into my "Like" category. They only made it to my "Err.. they're alright" category.

Zucchini is pretty darn tasteless and I think of it as a filler food for stirfry and soups. Zucchini bread is interesting.

Not a huge fan of raw tomato. Not by itself anyway, but it is good in certain things. LOVE tomato juice! Want to make my own vegetable juice here soon.:p

I think I forgot eggplant, which should have made it to the list. I mean, if amaranth is on there, eggplant certainly should be!

Think carefully about those votes. this is extremely important. I can't stress that enough.

My favourate vegetable is the tomato, but I HATE FRUITS!

Thou mockest me yet again for listing tomato as a vegetable? Have you no decency?;)

My, my!!! Slightly pickier than me when it comes to vegetables. I wonder if there's someone who doesn't like ANYTHING on that list?

I like them all. Any vegetable well prepared can be delicious.
I notice nobody has ticked parsnips or turnips, baked in a little olive oil-sensational.
Eggplant was a serious omission. I know a lot of people are clueless about how to use them but they are fantastic when you know how to use them. Spud Empress's Szechuan spicy eggplant is to die for.

A couple of the ones I didn't check off were simply because I have never tried them before. I think I may have had turnip once. Is it pretty close to parsnip in flavor?

I'm sorry about eggplant, alright!?!? You can send me some of that Szechuan spicy eggplant if you feel like it. Sounds interesting.

I can't say I've ever tried purslane or rapini.
What I do regularly consume is fresh seaweed, straight out of the ocean. When I'm bodysurfing I'll always grab some passing neptune's necklace or fine kelp strands and have a good nibble.

Zucchini is far from tasteless, strips grilled on the barbie plate in olive oil, cracked black pepper, yum!

I like all vegetables. My favourite is the potato, fenugreek [both regular and baby], okra, tendli [ivy gourd], caulifower, cabbage, brinjals [especially the little ones with thorny stems], tomatoes, mushrooms [while I like the regular button ones for soups, I enjoy shitake, portabella and enokitake as well]pumpkin and bottle gourd. I also like yams and bitter gourd

Purslane, if you haven't seen it, grows pretty much in any tilled ground quite readily as a weed. Semi-succulent and very tenacious, it has a slight peppery (bell pepper) taste, with nutritive value. Especially interesting is its ranking as one of the highest non-seed sources of omega 3 fatty acids.
You can eat it fresh in salad, or fry it. Tried the latter once. Very mucilaginous, but pretty tasty with oil and salt.
You are Australian, yea? Regardless...

Interesting. And probably a little gross!

Okay, relatively mild...

Bitter gourd? Sounds gross. Please explain!

Can you also please explain tendli and brinjals?

Fenugreek... heard of it many times. Still not sure what it is...

I once ate too many beets, ended up with red urine.
I've heard that can happen. I haven't experienced it. I HAVE experienced Asparagus pee. Everytime I eat it.

I like Chick Peas.
Ain't bad. Maybe I should have added a "Misc. Legumes" category. Peanuts included.
I had a veggie burger (from scratch) at a restaurant once and I think it was made from chick peas. Very interesting and tasty it was.

No! no, no, no. It's crisp and delicious. Mostly strong flavours, not everybody's cup of tea (very few people try) but chock full of trace elements and vitamins.
Soul food for me.
Salty, I'm guessing. I've heard it is really high in nutrients. How does it compare to dried kelp?

Brinjals are little eggplants, Indian brinjal pickles are delectable.

Here we go with that eggplant sh*t again. You won't let me forget that I forgot! :bawl:

BTW, that question was for SAM! You've violated certain international laws...

Not salty at all but given I'm eating straight out of the ocean it's got a nice covering of salt water.
I haven't tried dried kelp, but it is similar to nori, just much moister and fresher.
