What do Americans, or, sciforumers in general, know about tunisia, just asking,, just,i want to know, what does sciforumers, or americans, know, about tunisia, and what do they think about it.
and is it true, americans hate arabs and muslims? and have tons of mythes about them? and cant say only bad things about them, or don't say anything?
anyway, and what about the maghreb?
<snip>

[ps: tunisia is an arab muslim country]

I was born in, and reside in the USA.
I have never thought about Tunisia until now. Google presents a travel link, indicating it's a nice place to visit.

http://goafrica.about.com/od/tunisia/a/tunisiafacts.htm

And Wikipedia, perhaps not the best source of information, but contains diverse content.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunisia
Unless I have an out of body experience that takes me to Tunisia, I will never be able to think about your country beyond what I just read.
The only two Muslims I have known were American. I didn't hate either one for any reason; or mind that they call God, Allah.

I don't know what a "procedural democracy" is.

I've never read your newspapers, so I don't know if they are filled with propaganda or not. I wouldn't be able to read it unless it was printed in English, anyway.

Do those two links describe your country accurately?

Hope this helps satisfy your curiosity, but I doubt it.

.

there's a point, always the same idea: "proganada" and "islam". :p
also, i think you think of us, in a different way, means, to be like in a different way, wich we actually are not, and you know what i mean :p

hmm, what kind of difference do you mean?
if you mean clothes? yes, some wear some beautifull tradional clothes, they have all what the city have, elecricity, water, schools, clinics, and since tunisia is so small, with 24 state, each state have a main cities, and some towns around, everything is close, nothing too far.
but, what's the difference you exactly mean? like maybe, can't read or write?
everyone can read and write, exept some old people, but there are some schools for old people, where old people who want to learn reading and writing and learn few things, can go their :p
still don't know what's the difference you mean.

There is difference between the mentality and culture of the city and the countryside.
Countryside religion can matter more than the city.
Sexual freedom is also seen otherwise.
And more.
Not just to you?

.

in the tunisian society, family is the most important part of it, and also education. peopel don't leave their parents house intill marriage or going to study or work in another city or country. what's else, uuh,

Yes, the countryside is less "hurry hurry honk honk beep beep", you can see the stars at night along with the crickets chirping. A basic significant difference, over time, on the state of the mentality.

.

also education is hight can be competed to europe, many and many students who go study abord, and aloot many a,d so many who can't find a good sucess at univercity here, go to europe and become a very good student with very good notes , also trying to boost te number of students who go to japan with new agreements with japan. health care, good too, also we have the medical tourism, people from many countries come here for treatement, and other for massagings and stuff, waiting till 2016 to be a technological hube and a big centerof health tourism, and become the dragon of south medeterenian, etc etc etc... lablablablabla....

we are just 11 millions in this country, the busy cities are tunis, sfax, and sousse and monastir and mahdia, if you want to consider busy or not, but sousse is busy at summer, it's a touristic center. other cities, if you want to consider them little busy ok, not busy ok, depends on where you used to live. 11 millions in 24 state, in a small countyr, imagine.

still define more, like, in what those difference you mean;, in what side of mentality?

country side relegion??

yes,

like?

what do you mean?

In the villages are more people faithful than in cities.
And religious stuff are most important to the country.
"Menage à trois" is accepted different in the city than in the country.
If these differences are not in Tunisia, it is difficult to explain.

differences? no i don't think so, if there is, it's slight differences.
it's a small country, again

I was in western Tunisia in 1987 as a part of a longer geology expedition across Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

I most enjoyed the history...especially Roman and Carthage influence.

The Mediterranean part was ok (sort of a European/ North African mix) but the southwest where we were working was to say politely 'less than hygenic'. I couldn't bring myself to eat for a day or so until we found a hotel in Tozeur that served a meal that consisted of more food than flies.
