i have the same problem, im not looking for a gf atm but most of my friends are girls and they are always talking about how they made out with theyr bf last night, how cool he is, how much they love him and want to be with him forever n ever n ever... it makes me wanna puke my ballz off!
but whats even worse is when they DONT talk about any bf... and then you start to get high hopes, and intentions. then they notice your aspirations.... then they cant stop talking about him!
just tonight i had to listen to a friend of mine relating a story of how last night she and her new bf went to the fair, then to and abandoned theatre, then proceded to make out for 2 hours.
after that she asked if id care if she had sex with him... ackward question if ever one was asked... as i recal i just kinda stood theyr blinking till i asked 'whadya wnat me to say?"

Why talk about their boyfriends?
Boyfriends are a big part of a girl's life, and affect them pretty heavily, but I wouldn't think of it as a "defense" mechanism or anything. Boys talk a lot about sports, video games, or, (surprise?) their girlfriends. Same thing.
Bah, actually, there are tons of reasons why they would talk about their boyfriends. I don't see what's so confusing about it. Lots of times it's bragging, sometimes it's just looking for someone to release to, ect, ect.
If she doesn't like you, she'll end up avoiding you and you'll lose a friend. Potentially embarrassing. Relationships are never so simple.

That's bullshit, but I used to think the same way. But now my advice is: Forget it! If she IS A FRIEND, she would understand and you and her will just make your relationship clear and free of confusion. In fact - she might be flattered actually. And if she would not – well, she was not such a big friend as you thought. Quite the opposite is true - if you pretend to be just a friend, while having other hopes, you are going to lose her anyway and in more embarrassing way - because she will notice finally.
So once again - if you want her as a friend, be a good friend. Listen to her and do not complain about her "bf stories".
If you want a girlfriend - make yourself clear about it. Hypocrisy does not help any relationship.
Girls are full of bullshit and like to play games. But who doesn't these days? I don't know, I'd think if I started talking about my boyfriend and how awsome he is I'd be trying to give the dude a hint that I'm not interested. But if I'm complaining about him, then I am giving him a hint that I might be free soon.
