I posted here because I am viewing the existence of this museum from the point of view of psychology & sociology.

It amazes me that there are allegedly educated folks who believe in some variation of creationism.

The history of the Bible vividly comes to life at the world-class Creation Museum. As you enter the Time Tunnel, you’ll be transported back 6,000 years to the dawn of time as you begin your walk through biblical history. You’ll encounter a realistic Garden of Eden, animatronic Noah, Flood dioramas, and stunning video displays throughout your journey. Other exhibits include a fascinating insectarium, sculpted dinosaurs of all kinds in the Dino Den, a full-size Allosaurus skeleton, and much more.
The state-of-the-art Creation Museum allows you to venture through biblical history, stunning exhibits, botanical gardens, planetarium, petting zoo, zip line adventure course, and much more. This 75,000-square-foot facility has welcomed over 2.5 million guests since opening in Petersburg, Kentucky.

At the 75,000-square-foot Creation Museum, the pages of the Bible dramatically come to life. Journey through biblical history as you marvel at the Garden of Eden alongside Adam and Eve. Spot the serpent coiled among the tempting fruit, and discover more about Noah’s Ark and the Flood. You’ll see state-of-the-art exhibits, fossils, and even a full-size Allosaurus skeleton. Next, soar on our zip lines or challenge your skills on an aerial adventure course. Then tour the beautiful botanical gardens as you make your way to our petting zoo and camel rides.

From Bill Nye
I say that to the grownups, if you want to deny evolution and live in your world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe that’s fine,” Nye said in the video, “but don’t have your kids do it because we need them, we need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future.

Creationism needs the kids too. Every inch of the $27 million dollar Creation Museum, from the towering mastadon skeleton in the lobby to its zip lines and petting zoo, is designed to appeal to children.

Animatronic puppets explain the exile of Adam and Eve from their paradise of frolicking vegetarian dinosaurs and the construction of Noah’s Ark, while videos showing teenagers consuming Internet pornography or wives dissing their husbands behind their back are used to illustrate the fallen nature of the world.

With its alternative narrative of a world where the biblical flood carved the Grand Canyon, racial differences were created by a mass migration following the destruction of the Tower of Babel, and all human suffering can be reduced to a rejection of Christianity, the Creation Museum offers hope for parents who want to arm their children against the atheist indoctrination of evolution.

There are several different forms of creationism. But Ham’s organization, Answers in Genesis, is perhaps the biggest proponent of young earth creationism – the belief that the Earth is at maximum ten thousand years old

But then some people believe all kinds of things - or perhaps, rather, they strike a pose of doing so, tolerating a degree of cognitive dissonance and a degree of willed self-deception (e.g. Magical Realist? :D). Sometimes this is in pursuit of another belief. Ken Ham and the creationists, for example, think society has become godless - and thus degenerate - as a result of the philosophical materialism of science and want to re-insert God into science teaching. Affecting to believe in creationism is for them a means to that end.

Old thinking

The bible is still a good source of uncopyrighted, familiar and popular stories, that a lot of people will pay to see. The operative word is pay.
Americans love to spend money on childish entertainments. In that sense, it's no worse than any other theme park, fun fair or monster truck rally.
If you get in a few licks of religious propaganda, and keep another generation in thrall to superstition, that's all gravy.

Maybe a debate worth listening to. Since Bill Nye and the creation museum were mentioned.

Hours long...

It is worse than other Theme Parks.

Disney Land & many other theme parks do not claim to be displaying reality.
