If all the seals or whales in the world were to die tomorrow ...AND... the news not report it, would you notice any difference in your life?

I have no problem with you taking care of the world/space AROUND you, that's space that I figure is important to you. That's minding your own business/life .....but the fuckin' whales? You should know that hunters <b>DO NOT CLUB BABY SEALS</b> (as suggested by Greenpeace and their TV documentaries and propaganda). Not for humane compassionate reasons, but for the simple reason that <B>baby seal's fur has not commercial value.</b> Try to find a garment made with white seal skin (baby seals are white, didn't you know it?) and then tell me about it. The raw hide (or fur) does not get well tanned so the fur breaks apart and/or rot later.

Besides, Icelandic journalist Magnus Gudmunsson and Danish journalist Leif Blaedel got prizes for their research proving that Greenpeace forged their famous documentary about hunters killing seals. gudmunsson got Japan's prize as "Journalist of the Year" for his documentaries ""Ssurvival in the High North" and "A Crack in the Rainbow" of 1989.

Not that hunters don’t club seals for their skins, but they don’t torture the animals and they don’t kill baby seals. Greenpeace hired a crew of hunters and staged the killing and the torture of the bay seal and the despair of its mother. Greenpeace repeated the same fake films in Australiaback in the 80s, (remember the movie “Goodbye Joey”?) when hired a gang of drunkards to fire their guns on Kangaroos and have fun with them. A court in Dirrabandi, Australia, found the filmmakers guilty of the crime –but only set fines as punishment.

History, gentlemen. Also, a vivid memory is useful for not letting ourselves get caught in most hoaxes.

Besides, animals are nice and I like them a lot --especially barbecued.

Of course I donate to PETA and Greenpeace, have you read any of my posts? Like pretty much every organization ever, we have our radicals, and they do radical stuff, but that doesn't change the good work that both Greenpeace and PETA do. You can't judge the whole organization by their radicals, even Max could tell you that.

PS. I also volunteer with these and other organizations and I have seen with my own eyes the great work being done to help our animal life and the environment. Call me a treehugger, cause that's what I am.

I hunted for food in many jungle expeditions, I have worked in programs of saving "araras" (the Amazon big colorfull parrots) and chased down poachers hunting jaguars in Boliva.

But we reject the way Greenpeace and PETA work, and have refused to let them get near where we were working. They go afterwards and ask for money saying they "saved" or were saving animals from extinction. I am not an armchair environmentalist, but I worked in the field geting results --not just propaganda.

Have you collaborated with <b>Europe Conservation</b> too? Did you buy their beautiful framed world chart with those two red lines crossing at a given point in the world (ocean or jungles, or Siberia, or Europe), where supposedly is the whale, or the wolf, or the jaguar, or the jungle acre your 25 bucks are "saving"? What a scam! How they dare to do that!! When you find out it depends from Gorbachov's <b>Green Cross Foundation</b>, then everything gets clearer.

They were investing millions of dollars in Bolivia (San Javier) in a Spa and health resort that had highly radioactive thermal waters. But Greenpeace is making waves (and lots of money) with its campaign against radioactivity and nuclear plants, but hiding from the prospective clients that those thermal waters are so radioactive that the EPA would close down the Spa.

But, for telling the truth, radioactive waters are all over the world in <b>ALL</b> health Spas, where people go to get cured from ailments - and most of them get cured. Have you ever heard about the city of Bath, England? About Baden, Germany, and those 200 thermal waters in Budapest, Hungary? Radiation regulations as imposed by the EPA - if enforced as they should, would close down all those health places.

A new study of the weaning weights of California's elephant seal pups predicts that a 25-year trend of Pacific Ocean warming has ended. That means that the second half of a 50-year cycle has begun to cool the northern Pacific. In addition, historical fish catch data indicates the ocean cooling trend is likely to last until about 2025.

Burney Le Boeuf and David Crocker (University of California, Santa Cruz) monitored the weaning weights of central California seal pups for 29 years, from 1975 to 2004. The ocean's temperatures generally increased, and the pups' weaning weights declined 21 percent over 24 years from the study's beginning until 2000.

• The seal pups' weight decline coincided with an increase in their mothers' foraging time of 36 percent.

• A decline in the mother's own weights confirmed that fish were relatively scarce.

• After 1999, however, ocean temperatures began to decline, fish became more abundant and the pups' weaning weights abruptly began to rise.

By 2004 the pups weaning weights had recovered to 90 percent of their 1975 weaning size.

The previous shift toward warmer temperatures, which disadvantaged the California seal pups occurred in the mid-1970s. Researchers have begun to call the 50-year ocean cycle the Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO).

During the PDO, ocean temperatures rise and fall, fish species wax and wane, and fish are caught in different places, but total ocean productivity remains stable.

What does it all mean? Seal pups are instructing us that even temperature trends as long as 25 years can mislead us about cause and effect in the Earth's climate -- which has been cycling constantly for at least the last million years, say observers.
