The funny thing is... referring to all those "lion pickup lines"... it's actually the FEMALE lions that do the hunting most of the time.

proof please.
There is no "proof" in science, only overwhelming evidence.

"Lionesses do most of the hunting for their pride. They are more effective hunters as they are smaller, swifter and more agile than the males, and unencumbered by the heavy and conspicuous mane, which causes overheating during exertion. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion#Group_organization

"Studies of lions in the wild have rightly brought the female lion into the spotlight. Females are the basis of lion society: they are the hunters, cub rearers, and property owners and defenders. ... That great symbol, the imposing male, is ... not helped by its all too visible mane that alerts enemies as well as prey." From http://www.thebigcats.com/lion/lion_social.htm

"Lionesses hunt proportionalely more often than males ... In 71 hunts by single lions that were in groups of mixed sex, mails took the initiative only twice ... Out of a total of 1,210 lions observed stalking and running, only 3% were males" From George B. Schaller, The Serengeti Lion: A Study of Predator-Prey Relations (1972), page 242 http://books.google.com/books?id=7ann2dYn9iYC&pg=PA242

Yes, but a lot of the "pickup lines" given involved how they were excellent hunters or had brought a recent kill :p

no. SEX and ROARS
Tigers claw each other as part of their mating ritual, and the contact increases hormone production to facilitate intercourse. Lions do not do this and don't like having it done to them. This is one of the reasons that it's so hard to mate a lion with a tiger, even though when it happens they often have viable offspring. Tigons or ligers, depending on which species is the mother.
