The numbering of subsequent rules makes it clear that a new club hasn't been formed.

This club is hereby closed.

Ah, but I've rather ingeniously closed it in two seperate posts. Which means that it must close and re-open, not knowing whether it's coming or going, until Doomsday.

And just to add spice: I hereby close it again (Rule #42).

Which means that my other two rules closing the club are intact. Invoke one of those and the club is closed and re-opened, still with two rules closing the club intact (since all rules barring the one that closes it come back into play).

Boy, this is foolproof.

Gustav: surely a new club should begin at rule #1?

Rule 41 (a: paragraph 2, subsection 12):

As a newly reopened Rule Club all previous Rule Club rules, except those attempting to desist rule making will not be disregarded. This means upon the reopening of Rule Club all previous rules' numbers will all run consecutively from the old Rule Club.

No way.. find a loophole or something. Rule 42 does NOT close the club, it merely states that there cannot more than 42 rules at any one time.
 
As per rule 6 "women in the rules club cannot quit rules club.." it is determined that the club can never be closed.
