Name calling is sort of becoming childish.
Its the long, witty, and cold logic kind of posts that are worthwhile.

"Should either be deleted or edited to remove insults, according to moderator discretion."

This made the most sense to me, as sometimes a member might actually try to open a genuine thread with the intention of seeing it develop into a meaningful resource, and a bunch of insults could very well ruin that and make such a pursuit a waste of time. If the thread becomes obviously a chit chat ground for insults, it might be allowed to survive if it is done with class. Moderation and human judgment should not be set aside.

Oh please, the mod (James) and possible counterparts have opened a can of worms... and they will never be able to close it again. From now on, members are going to believe it to be appropriate to flame each other.

Oly kidding.

Wish you would rub some of that flower power on me. That's all. Or take me to your dealer, one of the two.

I am just being who I always have been. I am neither sad or angry or happy or ecstatic. I am all I wanted to be, I am all I can be, I am all that I am. All is tranquil and serene, there is no tension and no hostility. I am an eye in the sky for I am all that can be, I am all that I am...

Hey, i know someone really famous who sounds like your double. Commander Data.

He is never angry, happy or ectatic... well, atleast, not for very long.

He is not tranquil...he does not wish/see change and struggle as a way to live.

I do believe he once said, he had the same desire as men, where a man strives to be better than himself. That's struggling isn't it?

And i would say is he quite tranquil... in a very cold, logical way.

I wish I had voted pro-insult now.

I want to be able to insult people with reckless abandon.

What did you vote you dumb arsehole?

Draqon, if you were anything like you pretend you are you would take insults gracefully, but you don't. You'd also suggest everyone should be free to express themselves, you'd heroically opt to never insult people yourself, but you wouldn't infringe on the rights of others to do so.
In reality you are just a fascist pig (and a pervert, and a creep).

More people voted for some sort of censorship than for no action. James normally combines these totals to provide an, er.. unexpected result.

I fail to see how they specify a clear course of action this time though, so move that we go with the 'no action' option that gained the largest number of votes. Right James? :)

"Never deleted" won by 33 to 20.
And then, once that was established, "never editted or moved" won by 17 to 16.

One thing for certain is the vast majority of people would prefer things a mile away from where they are.

Me and james will begin negotiations now that I've won the poll.
I might make a noble comprimise and simply insist that no posts are ever deleted and no threads ever locked, but generously allow him to move offending threads to the cesspool (uncut and as is) once they infringe upon sciforums current "rules".

Another way to look at it is 68% of the respondants want corrective action taken against insulting posts and / or insulting posters.
