Removal of Tiassa as moderator

I think the OT is backward tribal and wicked and I still don't think you should be a mentor.

OTOH, I suspect there may be some good, cautionary advice sprinkled or suggested in there (not the OT, but Tiassa's elaboration). Since when criticizing the OT, one can occasionally run afoul of the baffling intricacies of the New Antisemitism and its backlash.

For example, I recall John Strugnell getting into that kind of hot water back in the day (Ha'aretz interview controversy). I mean, his comments surely weren't wholly due to substance abuse and going mad from editing the Dead Sea Scrolls. Some personal disgust with the OT probably factored into the underlying causes, albeit he kept it covert. ;)

Totally fine with that. We could start new a thread on it. "New anti semitism," or "Tribalism in the OT."
In the interests of say, not de-railing this thread.

I had a thought....We could vote on Tiassa and the mentor role. A poll.
Either message James or have a live poll.
I do not think it is fair on Tiassa to draw out this discussion publicly whilst drawing other things into it.
I personally have had a lot more issue with Write4u, just the one issue with Tiassa above so this is really a site thing from my perspective. I feel like i could discuss the OT/Bible posts intelligently with him as a member and if things went south we could ignore each other for a breather. I could not do that with him as a mod.

Contrast to antifa proper. Where the nice thing about being a member of the various Marxist, social democrat, and anarchist cliques loosely subsumed by that category is that you are part of the legitimate left
Antifa is no more the "legitimate left" than MAGA is the legitimate right.

Yep. And people taking the OT seriously would be disastrous. Fortunately most people today recognize that it's more of historical interest than anything you should live.

Agree, the Jews I have met are proud of their culture but were non religious.
What do you think of the poll idea?

Well, perhaps in comparison to something like the CPUSA that is arguably a more stable, respectable(?), and historic organization. But we can't deny the motley clubs of antifa being part of the unmitigated Left. That's "Left" with no detracting adjectives like "center" attached, and no ridiculous conflation with social-climbing progressives who are accordingly capitalists, despite appropriation of some Critical Theory values, etc. The "legit left", IOW, with revolutionary roots of battling socioeconomic oppression wriggling back well before Uncle Karl, at least to the French Revolution (circa when the divisions were also coined).

Left-wing politics: In modern politics, the term Left typically applies to ideologies and movements to the left of classical liberalism, supporting some degree of democracy in the economic sphere. Today, ideologies such as social liberalism and social democracy are considered to be centre-left, while the Left is typically reserved for movements more critical of capitalism, including the labour movement, socialism, anarchism, communism, Marxism and syndicalism, each of which rose to prominence in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Antifa: is a left-wing anti-fascist and anti-racist political movement in the United States. It consists of a highly decentralized array of autonomous groups [...] Individuals involved in the movement subscribe to a range of left-wing ideologies, and tend to hold anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, and anti-state views. A majority of individuals involved are anarchists, communists, and socialists who describe themselves as revolutionaries, and have little allegiance to liberal democracy...

For Tiassa as moderator? Bad idea. That decision should come from the site owners or their representatives, since they are ultimately responsible for what happens on the site.

It could be non binding.

But to vote for Captain T as a moderator seems like a contradiction in terms.(and perhaps an unusual cruelty)

Let him adjust to his new status first.

I still want to know why, if James was able to unmod Tiassa, why he can’t add more emojis? Priorities, people. :rolleye:
The former is an admin function; the latter is a tech function.

It has long been the case that the site owners neither enact nor allow technical tweaks to the site.

It does. It really does.

Will Tiassa be back, will James leave, where is Bells? Stay tuned to the "Tiassa Chronicles".

On last week's show with James, there was a coup and Tiassa was shown the door. There was some protest but James held firm. Did the Grinch steal Christmas? Will the Good Witch from the North come to the rescue? Will the owner drop in from stage right to save the day? Stay tuned.
