This is a consequence of the theory of relativity. Are you able to follow the derivation of the length contraction formula of special relativity? Is there some flaw in it that you can identify? Or is "I just don't like it. It doesn't feel right to me" the best you've got?

I had posted quite detailed scenarios with worked examples using Einstein’s own equation in post #15 in the: “What if Newton was Wrong?” thread in the Alternative Theories forum. It is a sad indication of the times when anyone questioning if Newton was right can end up in alternate theories.

As for perspectives changing, that's what the theory of relativity says! I explained it to you in some detail.

I looked at your calculations. They are not the problem (at least, the ones about length contraction). Your getting to grips with the basic concepts of relativity is, in any case, more important than getting the numbers exactly right, at this early stage in your learning.

You have made a bunch of claims that you have not supported. You need to either retract those claims or attempt to support them. Go back and read through my post #11, above. Then reply to what I wrote there.

Your viewpoint that it is all a question of perspective and that in some miraculous way no 'real' time dilation or length contraction takes place is delusional.

At no time did I say that time dilation and length contraction aren't "real". I was careful to explain what the theory actually says, so you can learn.

Special relativity is ALL about how time really does dilate and lengths do really contract. Look at twin paradox.

Quant, you will be fascinated with this experiment that demonstrates time dilation simply and empirically and very effectively. It was done in the back of a camper van by a professor with his family using four atomic clocks.

Here is direct, empirical, unassailable evidence of time dilation, due to nothing more than altitude in Earth's gravity - just as general relativity predicts it will:
