Pirates of the Caribbean

I saw Pirates of the Caribbean last night and the movie is amazing. I like mindless action with some comedy and a good story, such as The Mummy. This is a similar movie. The story was amazing, the action was good, humor was witty, and the special effects were just right. Definitely a good movie I'd recommend to anyone. Two thumbs up.

I'm waiting for it since I saw the trailer in theater... but I still have to wait until 08/13!

Great movie. This one will own the weekend. Maybe, 2 weekends.

Depp commands the screen. He makes pirates cool again.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Rated "Arrrr!"

I finally got around to seeing this flick - it's a great movie, and despite being light-hearted summer fare does have some intelligence to it! Oh, sure it has a few minor plot holes (mostly involving the heroine's state of hair), but remember, that sort of thing in this sort of movie just adds to the fun!
  1. Best live-action film Disney's released in years. Perhaps decades.
  2. Not a classic, I think, but LOADS of fun. Swashbuckling adventure, all the way around. Check your brains at the door and go for the ride.
  3. The first decent pirate movie in... decades. And it's better than decent; it's quite good. Errol Flynn would have been proud.
  4. Johnny Depp is great in it. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly wind up kind of playing his straight men throughout much of the movie. Geoff Rush durn near steals the show as the best pirate villain since... hell, I dunno. You get the picture, though.
  5. Gave me faith that it was still possible to make a good pirate movie. Or for that matter, a decent action-adventure film that isn't rated R.
  6. I WANT that soundtrack. GREAT music.
  7. There is a sting at the end of the extremely long credits. Don't miss it. It's worth hanging around for, especially since even though you get to sit through this insane long list of every single pixel pusher and rowboat commander that helped make this movie, you also get to sit through that glorious, beautiful music while they do it...
It's not Casablanca, but it's not Cutthroat Island, either.

:m: Peace.

The first time I saw it, I saw it with my brother and some of his friends adn it was good. The second time I saw with my friends, a few who had seen it before and we had a good time making fun of it. I must say that it was quite boring the second time though.

P.S. Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow was great, and that crap-load of mascara he had on made him look even more creepy.

I just loved the gold teeth everybody had. That indeed was one of the best action movies I have seen in a long time. AND IT WAS FROM DISNEY! Who would have thought they still had it in them...

I liked the movie alot for the fact that it made me laugh. Not every movie has to be intelligent, just entertaining. Johnny Depp's character was great!

Johnny Depp was gorgeous & hilarious, and the eye makeup made him look even sexier! cool movie!

The Mummy is for fucking children who like phantasy little fairy tales where gender roles and beleifs in 'justice' and 'good' overcome all else. It's bollocks and anyone who likes this film is a fucking little kid.

The Mummy was terrible, but by your criteria I might as well just throw Beowulf and the Poetic Edda out the window since they are 'oh so decadent and child-like'. I should also throw out all of my Wagner operas and my copy of Legend of Zelda.

There aren't many heroes left in the world, people would rather feel socially comfortable and dare not step out of line in the old senile capitalist state. They would rather watch entertainment that espouses depravity, defeat, and pity. These are the idiots who think Jessica Lynch is a hero, these are the idiots who pickett outside of a store anytime some gay guy is offended, these are the idiots who fight for affirmative action or let their kids eat fast food. What a pile of shit you all are, go watch some MTV faggots!
