Old Hag Syndrome

Revisiting this phenomena after finding an excellent article about its commonality among Newfoundlanders. It is easy, perhaps TOO easy, to quickly dismiss these experiences as mere glitches in the sleeping brain. But I feel like there is more to it than that. That there is an objective and paranormal entity that preys on us in our most vulnerable state, while sleeping, and feeds off the fear energy that it inspires in its victims. And it also seems odd that such an experience is so common in Newfoundland. Why would a sleeping brain glitch be specific to one geographical location and population?

I have suffered from sleep paralysis all my life, I have a technique to get out of it now.
When I was a kid I thought it was evil spirits as I was a Christian so the devil and his servants were real to me. I did not know what sleep paralysis was.
Once I ditched religion that side dissipated, the fear went.
Then I learned it is actual physiological thing that can happen.

Did you ever experience a haunting presence during those episodes? Like something was pinning you down?
