Syphilis. History of discovery

. Posted in Viral diseases

" The history of syphilis to the present discussion is the subject of infectious disease and Dermatovenereologists many countries. It is believed that the disease has existed for thousands of years in all human populations, as evidenced by the study of human skeletal remains found during archaeological excavations."

It is not from youtube or wiki...so...

The above still doesn't evidence the claim that "Venereal Disease has existed just as long as any God entity".

According to:
http://www.evolve360.co.uk/Data/10/Docs/10/10Plumb.pdf

It suggests that there is an entry in Leviticus (C15 V2) that relates to a statement about a man having venereal disease.

Obviously if the "bible" contains a mention of such things, then it must of existed before it was written, meaning it's older than the book and therefore the religion (which in turn dates their god as younger)

That conjecture may potentially explain the Abrahamic religions' notions of God as being more recent than venereal disease.

But your original statement was -- "Venereal Disease has existed just as long as any God entity". Note: any God entity. Support your claim.

Try a little ... er ... you know what? Just try ... even a little.

(1) Venereal disease predates humanity.

(2) Human beings invent "God entities".

(3) Therefore, VD predates God entities.

I mean, come on. File under, "Duh".

If you're going to compare God to VD, I am going to compare atheist to herpes. Trust me, I can come up with some very descriptive language.

And just for the record, you don't care what fantasy people believe in, as long as it's false unscientific.

They can believe in scientific fantasy too, if they wish. There are some UFO technology articles floating around on the internet. If it makes people happy, then that's good. Why is this a problem?

General and Particular; Normative and Deviant

It's only a problem if those fantasies present observable functional challenges to normative socialization. However, having developed within cultures subsumed in religious paradigm, psychology often mistakes the dysfunctional for the normative. One of the results is that certain irrational behavior within religious communities and customs have been passed off for generations as normative.

The rest might actually be a joke that, like Scientology, got out of hand.

In other words, you don't approve of weird people. What's wrong with weird people?

No, Seriously ... This Is Difficult?

Not quite, and it really depends on the particular weirdness.

In truth, I never figured it was difficult to comprehend: The problem comes when that weirdness harms others.

Is there something particularly complicated about that?

Total agreement. If behaviour harms other people, there is a problem.

Giving your personal opinions numbers doesn't somehow magically render them authoritative

So is it not happening, then? Is that what I should take from this?

I'm not sore about it, I just thought it would be a good idea. If not, so be it.

It's a good idea, and it is happening. Committee wheels turn slowly.

Evidence "Human beings invent "God entities"."

Specifically, the original claim was "Venereal Disease has existed just as long as any God entity".
Note: any God entity.

So if you're arguing "Human beings invent "God entities"; all "God entities" are invented by humans", then support your claim.
