That may well be a cause for complaint, but it's not the same as what they're doing now by allowing themselves to be financially tied to a fascist nuclear power that's actively carving up Europe and unilaterally redrawing the map. There are alternative sources of oil and natural gas at the same price or lower as what Russia offers, and if Germany refuses to open its markets to oil from the US and Canada or any other alternative, they need to be pushed in that direction with legitimate sanctions. I sympathize with Germany's desire to minimize CO_2 emissions- useless and counterproductive as it might be to purchase energy from nations with no environmental standards as opposed to shale oil and tarsands from North America- but environmentalism must take a back seat to preventing WW3, it's utterly insane for anyone to think otherwise.

stopping WW3 is an environmental issue. wars are very bad for the environment.
