Moderators' qualifications

Considering the very nature of a Moderator is partially for the reason of bring some sort of uniform PC environment in "Intelligent" discussions and to keep spammers at bay, for the most part "Moderators having to be Qualified" isn't a necessity.

If the Moderators were in fact claiming to be knowledgeable on a subject and leading their various sub-forums with their own blend of "reporting", then you could query their qualifications because you would be looking to them as a form of authority on that particular matter.

If the Moderators had to be qualified for what they currently do, then the likely qualifications they would require would be of Psychology and Psychiatry, since most of the time it's dealing with peoples egotism, narcissism or just plain lacking tolerance of others.

Of course if all the moderation staff were qualified in such areas of Psychiatry and Psychology, would people continue to post to the forum or be concerned that the world was getting bigger because their head was being shrunk?

Pfft, I caused the Black Plague and Julliard comes to me for advice.

AND I can wiggle my ears.

Damnit.

You've got me beat on at least two of those.

You win this round. But I'll be back. If you get me drunk on power I swear I'll totally lift up my shirt and flash you my tenure. Tee hee!

Whoa, whoa, easy now. We don't just let anyone run around thumbscrewing people. You have to sign an affidavit stating that you promisey-womisey only to torture people who disagree with us philosophically, and not just anyone for your own fun. We have standards, you know.

Eh, fuck it then. Anything else I could do?

Enmos,

While their might not be an "I" in "Team",
There is definitely a "Part" in "Party". :)

Took it 20 posts and lots of bragging to get the right answer.

Just like an NFL umpire doesn't need to be able to throw a ball correctly, he is there to enforce the RULES.

As long as a moderator understands the rules of the website and able to act accordingly mostly without bias, he or she doesn't even need a high school education.

End of stupid thread....

Eh, sorry, I'm not getting it.
Probably a language problem, or perhaps I'm just that dim

Meh my bad for truncating, you concerned yourself about not having a major qualification like you could be apart of the team for that reason, I implied you however play an important part and therefore we should be able to get to party once in a while (ok partying has little to do with it, but heck it has to be done)

Does it make any difference to modship if you do have some kind of major qualification?

Ah, I see. Sorry and thanks :)

Depends on the subforum you are moderating I guess. It could be handy to be knowledgeable in the field, but I don't think not being knowledgeable automatically renders you unsuitable as a mod.
