It's a release mechanism. How do I avoid reality?
This is a microcosm of reality but one that has no direct ramifications upon me. It is where I can be most honest.
I have tried to explain my positions in public but, except for some rare exceptions, I am met with a bewildered horror.

That I have to pretend the imbecile boss at work is my equal because I am forced to need the money.
That I have to endure the taunts and insults of children because my options have been restricted.
That I have to pretend other people's opinions are respectable or make sense because I risk social exclusion and so my well-being is indirectly threatened.
That is hardly new ..... I could give you some wonderfull posts concerning Gendy : 1) while she was a mod 2) after she was no longer a mod ....

1) sucking up to her .... telling other people to stop critizising her...

How about an utilitarian approach to those situations, where one doesn't take those situations so personally anymore, but instead focuses on what course of action might be best to bring about the results one desires?
I suspect you might have an objection to such utilitarianism, hence my question.
And moreover, I would like to see a rebuttal of utilitarianism, as I have some issues with it too.
