I'm sure I'm gunna take a lot of flak for liking these guys, but Linkin Park's new album, Meteora, is incredible! I bought it today and it's amazing! Just wondering if anyone else has heard it or has any opinions...

heard the single.. sounds exactly like all their previous stuff... they have some interestin compositions.. but i dont like the band... they're way too pretentious...

Forced to download a few songs, immediatly deleted them. So samey and yuk

their first cd was ok musically but it was mad deppressing. If i was going to kill myself, i'd do it while listening to linkin park. I havn't heard the new one yet.

I like Linkin Park, becuase I thought there blend of Rap and Rock backed up by Techno was very original. I don't think they'll be ab;e to keep it original though.

Adequite funds aquired.... transportation to Music Bar.... far out of reach..... must get special edition.... must

I bought the album too and i agree it is amazing...though i still like their first album better...but i am glad they tried new stuff in thier second album (hear the whole thing for LP naysayers to know what i mean) and track no 11 has to be one of the best songs out there right now.

Meteora

I'm disappointed in Meteora. My guess is I've listened to it about five or six times through since I got it Tuesday.

I've had Hybrid Theory since release day, and I really enjoyed the vocal interplay between Mike and Chester on that album. For example, the way they switched off so seamlessly, even singing parts of the same verse. Listen to a song like By Myself and you'll see what I mean.

Now listen to Meteora. There's a lot less interplay between Mike and Chester here. Most often, it's Mike rapping out the whole verse and Chester belting out the chorus in fine form. It just seems a lot more formulated and tweaked for radio. The worst songs on the CD are ones like Don't Stay and Breaking The Habit, where Chester justs sings the whole damn thing; it's just not interesting to me. I can see songs like Easier To Run blowing up at radio, but it's really nothing new for the guys, just a tried-and-true formula. It certainly sells them records, however; maybe that's really important to them.

On a different note, I think musically Linkin Park is in fine form on Meteora. The guitar parts are very nice as before, the drumming has tightened up, and their experimentation with strings is a nice step for them.

As I can remember, my favorite songs thus far would be Lying From You, Figure.09, and Numb.

Lyircally the album is weaker than Hybrid theory...and i agree: it seems that Mike sings the whole song and Chester just takes care of the chorus on almost the whole album....but the fact can't be denied that it is a excellent album nonetheless.

It's funny that they tried a lot more different sounds on Meteora but Hybrid theory has more different sounding songs than Meteora.

chester i think brought to much inspiration from the queen of the damned project he worked on to this album, meteora is much darker then hybrid theory

I didn't...

know that the guy from linkin park worked on the queen of the damned project, i'll have to look into it.

I like that they called there first album hybrid theory, it was a cool way of putting it and actually thats what there music is a hybrid theory, but the cleverness of calling it that only really hit me just the other day when I saw them performing on MTV on what was called two dollar tour.

I liked their first album and their new song is pretty good.

I don't know whats wrong with me, I don't like any metal or rock that comes out these days. I don't feel it. I think Linkin Park can be a bit flakey. Theres no real genuine emotion in alot of todays music.

Maybe I am getting too old (i'm 28) to enjoy this new stuff but I think the quality of music keeps degrading, that says something about our culture and society.

I do like alot of hip-pop and rap because it really keeps me going and helps me to stay upbeat and ambitious. I think that I am going to make a post about this what I think about music these days, i.e. whether I am just partial to my own generations music: Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Pantera, Metallica, Nirvana or I have just grown out of rock or it I just don't feel the same way about todays music because I am not in my "influential years".

In other words, can I still be a good judge of todays music or am I just over the hill?

I just got Meteora!

I thought it was ok, after the first 4 consecutive listens. It's different from Hybrid Theory (which was awesome, till they milked it to death). It's way too short though: only 38 minutes of music! Some songs were good, some were formulaic, and the Foreward seemed like Linkin Park were trying for a more creative feel, but didn't carry it through like Our Lady Peace's Spiritual Machines. I enjoyed the heavy sounds of some songs (Figure .09), and interesting Oriental blend (Nobody's Listening, I think). Session was far too short, and was a Cure for the Itch extension to my ears, which is no problem, because I liked it. However, I thought Linkin Park shouldn't have come out with Somewhere I Belong as their single ... It's too mushy, they should break from their In The End reverie and kick up the volume again.
