My guess is it is fake. This would have shown up in the daily paper for sure. Plus... that would be one really stupid diver.
Dunno, the light source seems to be the same direction, but the diver does look darker that he possibly should, but then, he is wearing black! I have no idea where or when it was supposedly taken, a mate emailed it to me.
Looks fake to me. The sea jelly looks blown up. The diver, not so much. The biggest sea jelly in the world is the Portuguese Man-of-war. It's not big in width, but is really big in length. I think. I'm not very knowledgeable of sea jellies.
actually it could be real if you look at the rim of the diver even though he is dark the rim of him is showing light look at his fin it is close tot he light on the jelly, and the other side of the jelly is just as dark as the diver
I agree...but... Iwould have thought the top of the oxygen tank should be lighter considering the lightness of the topside of the jellyfish. I'll see if I can find the original source of the photo.
Look at the grainy underside of the jelly. You can really see the pixelation where it's dark, as if it was blown up. You cannot, however, see any such pixelation on the diver. Also, look at the edges of the thing the diver is holding, it looks slightly pixelated, there, too. With that said, th elargest jellyfish are the Arctic Lion's Mane, which grow to 2m across the bell and 36m long tentacles. Judging by the diver, that jelly is at least 30 feet across. The jelly in the picture is not,as far as I can tell, an Arctic Lion's Mane, though it may be a Cyanea.
yeah, I cant imagine that it is real, looks like the diver is put onto a close-up shot of a jelly. Very convincing looking though!
Yeah, and there's a white line around the bottom of whatever he's holding where the background colours should continue right to the edge of the object.
fake, definitely, if it aws real there wolud be a report in new scientist, they fget excited every time a giant squid washes up on shore

yeah, that Lions Mane jelly is actually the longest animal in the world, so i've been told. Its tentacles strectch out really long which is why it's so big. Also i think there was a Sherlock Holmes book written about it....not sure though
