This "this caught up emotionally with Israel" argument is admitting discrimination. It falls right into narrative that Israel is now the Jew among nations.
I don't think so. I don't think Arab support for Palestinians was based on anti-Semitism though it may create anti Semitism.
In the USA I don't think the anti-Israel faction was created by anti-Semitism. Just as the majority of Israel backers in the USA are not Jews. If Israel versus the Palestinians /Arabs was a Rocky movie who is Rocky Balboa and who is Apollo Creed? It is all about story lines. For Israelis and Palestinians and for the children of holocaust survivors it is their life but for the gawkers it is all about story lines even if they are forced to pay taxes to support one side or the other side.
And the story lines are not the old the Jews killed Jesus story lines or any other of the old European anti-semitic story lines. The stories are competing tales of victimization and overcoming adversity.
The exception being an American subculture of a subculture of Christian Zionists who desire for an Israel to be at the center of World war three quickly so that Jesus will return and they will be raptured to heaven in their lifetimes. There are probably ten million Americans hoping for that.
Before Israel was born there was anti-Semitism against individual Jews and people, and now it's directed at their state.
I think this is an intellectual defense mechanism that people deeply loyal to Israel use to not be hurt by the criticism of Israel.
There clearly are a tiny non-Muslim fringe of people who are still connected to the old European style anti-Semitism from their parents or who have re-embraced aspects of that ideology for it's shock value in the USA or in Germany. In the USA being blatantly anti-semitic is more taboo than having purple hair and body piercings and that is it's appeal.
But you probably think I am anti-semitic simply because believing that would make your world less complex.
Israel is nobody's whipping boy. What you're suggesting is that because the Arabs are so emotionally involved with the poor "Palestinians" they should get a pass for what they're doing to their very own people, which far surpasses anything that they percieve Jews to be doing.
The Arabs and Muslims are a different story from the European and American lefties who support Palestinians as part of a larger policy of supporting all victimized underdogs. In some families brothers fight all the time and hurt each other but if an outsider tries to hurt one of the brothers family loyalty will kick in and the brother will defend each other. As far as I can tell the depth of the Arab and Muslim anger at Jews did not exist prior to the problems between Jews and Palestinians and is an outgrowth of Arab and Muslim loyalty to Palestinians.
As far as the hypocrisy of the Arab leaders being unsympathetic victimizers and then moaning about the victimization of the Palestinians hypocrisy, lies and general evilness has always been normal for politicians and dictators from all ethnicities.
Arab leaders should not get a pass. I wonder what Is wrong with these cowardly Arabs that they won't risk their lives to overthrow the slimey Arab leaders including those Arab leaders allied the USA.
I don't know man... words seem to fail me to express the disgust I feel. Do you know that poor Darfurian refugees are not escaping to their brotherly Egypt from the live burnings and village rapists that chase them on horses. They escape to Israel. But first they have to go through the Egyptian security forces who shoot them on sight. I guess you're not emotionally involved in that since the Darfurians don't have an army of refined demagogues with British accents that are welcomed to CNN day in and day out, and given op-ed space in the NYT on a regular basis, and so the public has never even heard of their plight and the butchery they experience every day by quantity and quality much worse than 100 "Cast Lead" operations in Gaza - first by their own government, and then by their "brothers" in Egypt. And of course then they're betrayed by AI by underreporting it or not reporting it at all for fear of being kicked out of Egypt.
I don't know anything about that story. The only decent reason I can think of for the Egyptians to not revolt is that the US government sends a lot of money to Egypt and would stop doing so if that government was overthrown.
Israel takes in Darfuris? I never hear of such a thing. They are Muslims. I always hear about the Dafuris going to Chad which makes a lot more sense logistically. Are you sure the Darfuris to Israel story is not propaganda?
