I have truly big problem. It's a long story (a bit detail below). In short, can somebody please explain me, when I exchange message in facebook (i.e. I send a message to X's INBOX, and then X replies me to my INBOX in facebook), does anyone else BESIDES ME AND X can actually see what we exchange in the inbox?

In EMAIL, as I understand it, no one can read my inbox except they know the password. Does it different in FACEBOOK...?? I truly don't understand. For those of you who has experience with facebook, please explain me.

How computer savvy is your relative? There were privacy concerns last year with Google apps which can access facebook inbox. Besides, facebook per se datamines all your info and its available to anyone who can hack in.

-previous post is removed (too many personal details)-

So, wait, let me get this straight first. For example, if I exchange PM with you in facebook's inbox, can anybody else (let say, people who are on my friend's list) read it without effort to hack?? Is it open source..? (is it open source by default that can only be made private after I change some privacy setting or something like that)?

Edit: add red part

Since there are no privacy settings for inbox, I assume by default its private. I play around a lot with this stuff . If there was a way to read other peoples mail, its hard to believe I wouldn't have found it :D

Will be in phone with sister in 5 min. She didnt know anything about yet. I logout first now. Thanks for your help.

Well if he is IT engineer, he may be able to easily hack into her account. There is also a possibility that she did not log out of her facebook account and he checked her inbox. That would be my first guess. If they are married and live together, then I imagine he would have easy access to her computer. I find that a lot of people get comfortable with their computers and often do not properly log themselves out.

How do I hack into somebody's FB inbox? I know somebody on FB that was hating on me in real life. I want to dig up some dirt.

Best of luck. Let me know if there is a loophole

I have sent you a PM just now. It's all a mess. Thanks for your help, btw.

Is it possible that other people know your sisters password?

Yes, apparently. She didn't realize it. The relative helped her to set up facebook account in her phone (and keeping her password, too).

You should not, it's illegal.

I cannot write in more detail right now, sorry, but I am sorting out the mess.

If you can't take what you find, don't snoop - it's a hard lesson, but you are good to help your relative learn it, and grow up a bit.

wtf is this about?!

Ugh.. it's about something ugly, but matter is solved. Brief explanation: few months ago my sister asked one of our relative how to make a facebook account in her blackberry. She doesn't know that the password should be kept for herself. The relative took advantage of her innocence by accessing her inbox and use the information inside to blackmail me (I exchange PMs with my sis and yesterday I happened to badmouth the said relative, but I did so in private way, it's normal conversation between me and my sis).

I tell you what, BE CAREFUL of whatever you write even in PRIVATE MESSAGE (in facebook or wherever), because even if you are careful with your password and stuffs, the other parties whom you exchanged PM might not be as careful as you.

kira
please grace another forum with your insipid vacuousness

thanks

you're just jealous people respondinh to me.

p.s.: yea, yesterday I was shocked, because I THOUGHT that inbox in facebook is probably not private (everyone on friend list can get access to see conversation between 2 ppl in inbox).
p.s.s.: me and my sis live in different country
p.s.s.s: ok, we can now let this thread die >.<
