Even if we were 'caught in a matrix,' wouldn't we still exist? Not necessarily as human beings, but a different kind or level of existence?

Even if we were in a matrix, we would still be human beings. Human beings are, by definition, us - whatever that might be.

That's where my mind tends to go with this too, but in the thread's poll, the option ''caught in a matrix'' seems like an alternative to how we have come to be, which suggests that we wouldn't really ''exist'' as we are now, if we were in a matrix. We'd still exist - but I'm not sure we'd have the same physical bodies, or consciousness which is part of the human experience?
 
My consciousness creates my environment, and that leads to my reactions with it.
My memories and experiences, both old and new, dictate my reactions and thoughts.

Is that a sort of feedback loop?

Would that make me a conscious feedback loop, enabling a growing experience of my environment?
 
I became aware of my existence. Although, I don't recall that exact moment, nor the level of shame I felt after realizing my weenie was showing.
