Google Chrome Spyware ?

Precisely why does Microsoft crapware still exist?

Before I woke up, I paid for Windows 3.1, WFW, 98, NT 4 (a 5 seat license), and lord knows how many other friggin' abortions from them.

Buy UNIX once, or use Linux for free. Both work as advertised.

I'm very ignorant about all this - need some simple advice. I'm running window 8.1 and used IE the latest verions, but have tab for google. About one third of the time I click on link found by Google, it opens my Chrome yet most of the time it does that, nothing related to the link appears. Instead 4 or 5 little icons (I think they are called) appear in a row / line in the lower left part of the screen. This is so frustrating that I usually just close the Chrome and return to the Google search results and try something else.

Should I use control panel's delete soft ware sub section to remove Chrome? I like having some browser (I think they are called) alternative to IE so will add fire fox. Often when I go to Yahoo to read my Email, it tells me to down load the latest version of fire fox. FF could be my back up.

Also when IE10 is down loadable should I do that? I have a touch screen and Win8 (or 8.1) seems fine with that now that I have learned some features (Click top left corner to go back to prior screen, swipe in from right to shut down etc.)

I was under the impression that Windows 8 and 8.1 installed Internet Explorer 11 by default and that it could not be 'rolled back' to I.E. 10 or any earlier incarnation of Microsoft's browser.

Personally, I prefer the "Opera" browser over both I.E. and Google Chrome. As an aside, I also prefer to use "Dogpile.com" as my 'search engine'.

And, yes, Billy T, you can use the 'control panel' to 'uninstall' any and all non used "programs" on your machine.

GoDuckGo and ixquick are good too, if it's privacy you crave.

I use Google and then manually erase each and every cookie deposited before I do anything else. Google hates that, but I get a lot fewer solicitations that way.
