The only valid reason I can think of to exist is to enjoy existance itself. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to be happy all the time. I enjoy sadness at times also. If I ceased to enjoy all aspects of living, I would be tempted to snuff it.

IMO this is a profound question. Maybe the "profoundest"
We can say "because I love life" and "why not?" and blah blah blah, but really, why don't we all just admit we are slaves to the earth. We don't even know what we are doing, we just know we want to live and breed. We don't know why. Therefore there is something controlling us that is not us. We are tools that communicate with eachother to be more efficient tools.

I enjoy life because I give myself no other choice. It's a matter of taking complete responsibility for my attitude. I will not fail to enjoy life because for me that is the very purpose of living.

Yeah, you have somewhat of a point but I think it only applicable to a subset of the populous who isn't really concerned about all that ya know? Further, you're putting it in the context of some sort of complicated plot or something. I would contend that you're demanding an explanation for something that simply doesn't have more of an explanation than "uh, well you know, it's just that way". You're implying you have some mystical or unknown purpose. The biological imperative is your fundamental purpose and it gets modified via your perception over your lifetime. Your purpose stays the same and it changes. It exists on multiple levels. It changes you and you change because of it. You will seek whatever it is you PERCIEVE your purpose is added to the biological imperative.
