Neither have I, but I have seen enough, probably more then you, to conclude that MR is conducting a fraudulent exercise, including those ones to which you are referring: What you may have missed is that he denies any possible astronomical, meteorological or human affliction that could also be a cause. He simply denies all forms of possible solutions other than supernatural or paranormal or alien.I have neither the time or patience or motivation to have tracked through more than a relative hand-full of postings in this subforum by either gent mentioned. But could quote some instances where MR declared he doesn't put a particular label to any given UFO event/phenomena. Why bother though.
Funny, I partially agree, possibly any one of what you mention, but no extraordinary evidence to confidently support any of those. It remains a UFO.Purely on physics/logical grounds I would rule out 'time-travellers'. And given all that's known of many credible UFO eyewitness accounts, consider the 'craft piloted by aliens' angle as hugely unlikely. 'Interdimensional' is a catchy pseudo-intellectual term, but probably the nearest to my own opinion that we are dealing with intelligent entities having extraordinary powers to manifest whatever they like wherever and whenever. That as Arthur C. Clarke might say 'appear to us as magic'. Yet hopefully no worse than a whimsical agenda in dealing with homo-sapiens.
The 5% you talk about have I suggest undergone further scrutiny over and above, but they still lack the extraordinary evidence to claim with any certainty they are Aliens, time travellers, interdimensional beings or any other dreamt up entity that MR might be inclined to accept.First part moot since all parties agree there is only ~ 5% of cases that warrant closer scrutiny. And actually it's the cautious approach that doesn't a priori exclude everything outside the ordinary that imo and of others represents the actual scientific spirit of openness. Just not so open the brains fall out. Which is why I could so easily and quickly deal with the OP posting case.
So how long are they going to continue to play with us? How long have they been playing with us? Why would they simply just want to play with us?See my above, and last part of my #11. It's foolish to demand that more advanced entities should conform to our idea of 'proper alien decorum' or such.
It's clear government agencies particularly the military have a consistent track record of putting out deliberate misinfo/disinfo on UFO incidents. Witness the already well established contrast between the Air Force explanation vs Criticisms of the Air Force explanation re that Washington DC 1952 incident I linked to in #11. No guesses as to who was being honest and who wasn't. And of course they have fellow travelers salted throughout the media and elsewhere.Setting the record straight. I'm so tired of the lies:

Interesting you had that encounter. I never have except for the false 'Whitman's blimp' event reported by many quite a few years ago.Neither have I, but I have seen enough, probably more then you, to conclude that MR is conducting a fraudulent exercise, including those ones to which you are referring: What you may have missed is that he denies any possible astronomical, meteorological or human affliction that could also be a cause. In other words, in my case certainly, and I presume the others that cross swords with him, the small percentage of sightings that remain unexplained are simply just that...unexplained and unidentified. Could it be Aliens, yes possibly, but imo the chances are remote for the many reasons I have given.
UFO's is what I accept due to lack of conclusive evidence to label it anything in particular.

Sure if they are visiting us, thay are probably thousands of years ahead of us, and advanced enough to understand that we, us, humans, are not just mindless primitive life, and to use an analogy, anywhere near the difference to ants on a hill are to us.
I'm sure, if we are being visited, that they are advanced and intelligent enough to accept we are not just ants [we can go to the Moon, have a space station, can fly around the Globe at will etc etc]
And unlike Hawking's suggestions, I do not believe they would be aggressive since at their advanced state, they would not really want for anything.
But perhaps I'm just an old fashion optimist.
The bottom line though is as yet we do not have sufficient evidence to conclude what that 5% are.
There aint a person on this forum, more confident then I that other life forms exist within our Universe. But sadly, I also recognise that other then the near infinite nature of the universe, and the near infinite content in the universe, and the stuff of life being everywhere we look, that we still lack any hard evidence to validate what I believe and what most others I suggest also believe.
My greatest wish is to have that finally confirmed before I kick the bucket.
Oh and if you have missed it, I have also seen a UFO, around 20 years ago while driving,.... a sky blue disk on the horizon, moving parallel to it for about a minute before disappearing.
I arose early next morning to check the papers for other reports...none.
It was simply unexplained, and unknown.

I certainly don't buy any stories of 'secret alien-government joint agreements' or the like. Just paranoid fear of public paranoid fear most likely explains it.

Regarding all the rest there, will just say that of the modest investigation into the subject I have done, of all the researchers I know one name stands out imo as the benchmark - Jacques Vallee.
I guess my question, and one that has never been sufficiently answered... is why? Why would the Military/Government/Whomever this mysterious "They" is... why would they lie about the existence of UFO's?
Especially America... I'd think we'd be all "Haha, we have alien plasma blaster tech bitches! WHAT NOW RUSSIA!?" and the sort...
Or possibly any other more natural causes as a result of atmospheric anomalies and such, including the more common human afflictions."If they are not an advanced race from the future, are we dealing instead with a parallel universe, another dimension where there are other human races living, and where we may go at our expense, never to return to the present? From that mysterious universe, are higher beings projecting objects that can materialize and dematerialize at will? Are UFOS "windows" rather than "objects"?"----Jacques Vallee
[/QUOTE]"It was the darndest thing I've ever seen. It was big, it was very bright, it changed colors, and it was about the size of the moon. We watched it for ten minutes, but none of us could figure out what it was. One thing's for sure, I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified objects in the sky. If I become President, I'll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and the scientists."---JIMMY CARTER, remark during 1976 Presidential campaign
My 'gut feeling' for a long time has been these entities, whoever/whatever they are, like to play with us. Which is why one will very likely never have that 'landing on the White House lawn' event.
Sometimes I try and figure a motive for posters randomly reviving a forgotten thread. My best shot this instance is to note comment here:Captain Kirk

And btw imo if only Captain Kirk (and rest of stereotyped crew) was funny, maybe Star Trek would have risen above mediocrity.

Once a year is not so bad. Orthodox Jews bear a similar affliction (apart from the silence bit) one day in every seven. And deep down I just know this has some bearing on UFO's sighted in Oz. Just can't put the finger on it.No real motive
Yep I am on holiday and bored and looking through old post
This is Nyepi day so everyone is expected to be quiet so the bad spirit get bored with nothing happening and leave
Nyepi Day in Bali is a New Year celebration unlike anywhere else on the planet. Bali’s celebrates the Saka New Year as the Bali Day of Silence, an ultimately quietest day of the year, when all of the island's inhabitants abide by a set of local rules, which brings all routine activities to a complete halt. Roads all over Bali are void of any traffic and nobody steps outside of their home premises. Most Balinese and visitors regard it as a much-anticipated occasion. Some expats and those coming from neighbouring islands prefer escaping Bali for the day rather, due to restrictions that surround the observance. Some visitors check coinciding dates ahead before their Bali trip, avoiding it altogether. Anyhow, Nyepi is worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime, especially since the preceding and following days offer rare highlights to behold!

From tomorrow I have until 21 July to have fun so a day doing nothing no problem
Since I arrived at hotel 02:30 Monday morning shopped for essential during the day doing nothing is a good idea
And in over 30 holidays I have only been here for about 4 Nyepi days
As long as 'fiction' is tacked on the end of 'science' - I agree. A now departed member would disagree that 'warp drive' or even 'beam me up Scotty' was pure fantasy. But I guess there was some encouragement for kids so inclined to think about a career with NASA or even just in astronomy/astrophysics.Yes it could have been a camp comedy show
Yes the crew was stereotyped
It did break some new ground and I like to think it encouraged interest in Science

Then you have forgotten my stated pov on all the UFO/ghosts/mystery-lights type phenomena. Re UFO's being nothing more than advanced, alien piloted spacecraft zooming in from some other solar system, is the very least likely scenario. My overall judgement is the ~ 5% of unexplained cases are really 'otherworldly' but not in that popular 50's flying saucer mold. Have you read anything by Jacques Vallee on the topic? Try a StartPage web search and achieve a better way to relieve any boredom. No bearing just the comment re

struck me funny that a space craft which must be worth gazillions $s of Earth money (not sure of the home planets price) and which has traveled gazillions of kilometres has a Captain Kirk entity who would play with us
Pure fantasy just might eventuate? Fair enough, I suppose, in an incredulous sort of way.I would disagree with the departed member
warp drive and beam me up Scotty are pure fantasy
However I hold out a 0.000001% hope they might eventuate
