I play mainly the bass and piano, I also know the guitar (same concept as bass except with chords which I know from playing the piano), played the tenor sax in high school bor a bit in my junior years. I played the bass in my senior music classes. I occasionally hook up with other musicians in my area and jam for a bit, but I do nothing serious. WHen I move away in September to a larger city, I might try to play with a serious group.

Dood, don't be shocked. Once you familiarize yourself with the patterns, and become good with alternate tunings, they are all fairly close. (except perhaps banjo just because of the traditional picking style, but if you finger pick or do classical shouldn't be much of a stretch)..
it's like going from piano to keyboard to harpsicord..
each has it's own intricacies, but they are fairly similar.

BM: on the upright, are you using a bow or plucking/slapping?

I could blow your mind with some of my guitaring, I could also mesmerise you into Eastern trance with my Tzouras and I would send you trippin' into spaces unknown with my full blown techno/drum n bass/ quasi jazz/funk/rock/fuckyoutype electronic ambience muzak, yessiree!

Dare I assume that you like bluegrass? Or something similar?

I play fiddle, mostly old-time. And a bit of mandolin.

I want to have my mind blown! got anything to listen to? Ive been playing spanish classical guitar for almost 30 years thought i sound like maybe its been 15. I played bass viol for 7 years, and play my peavy bass whenever. and hand drums. I have a 2 congas a tumba a remo djembe and a roland handsonic handdrum synthesizer. i played piano for a while when i was a kid too, until my parents got a divorce and the piano disappeared. shrug. mostly a guitar person.

Yeah, good ol' Bluegrass! And also ol' folk and country songs played in the Bluegrass style ...hard-driving banjo and mandolin breaks.

I don't play so much any more, but was the banjo player in a band in the early to mid-70's. These days, it's just too hard to get people together regularly to play and have fun, so I don't play much now.

nice response , inspiring me to start a new thread asking how many of you guys have a band !!!

I like to fiddle with G Strings!
Oh dear *slaps palm into forehead* Such a lame, and old, joke.

I play the guitar, and I used to be really good, but I haven't played for ages now so I'm off form.

i am sure that off form thing must be really sucking for you , as even i dont get much time to practise a few scales lately and its quite frustrating .
