I will respond directly to the OP, then read the thread and comment.

I believe the RC Church was trying to save its own ass. The RC Church was a total money machine in the 1930's that did nothing but made large deposits every Monday morning. There was a real fear that Hitler would invade the Vatican and establish himself some sort of Napoleonic Holy Emperor- and empty the coffers in the process.

The Vatican is guilty of cow-towing the Nazis but they also saved many Jews in the process, as all institutions did their best to do... they didn't want to disagree with Hitler but they sure didn't want great religious minds to go to the camps.

In the grand scheme of things, World War Two was a hiccup in the RC Church's 2,000 year domain.

(It's likely that no one will ever know his real intentions, unfortunately.) Hitler tying himself to the Church is not evidence of reciprocal sentiments. Some of your statements seem very absurd: the same pope that kissed a Quran has also taken Islam to task about its human rights record. The failure of the Pope to recognize Israel might be anti-Semitic, or might be a desire to avoid political entanglements immediately post-WWII. I think you need - with a nod to pj - to examine some of the historical context.
