Communism is state control . . .
No. It's an economic system that replaces private property with public ownership and communal control.
Jesus didn't endorse any particular economic systems, but what he did was instructive.
He became very angry with moneychangers in churches. He attacks them for turning a temple in Jerusalem into "a house of trade" - which would seem to indicate he's no fan of capitalist trade. And in 1 Timothy he warns about desire for money: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs." Matthew 6: "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."
So was he more into public ownership and communal sharing of resources?
Acts 4: " All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales, and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need."
Luke 3: “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
Deuteronomy 6: "Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you."
Luke 12: " Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
James 5: "Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter."
Sure sounds like Jesus comes down more on the side of communism.
