We would also be terribly remiss to gloss over the impact that government education camps have on the intellectually/emotionally defenseless minds of the children forced into them. You can definitely go down that checklist chimpkin:
Control of communication - You must raise your hand and wait to be granted the right to speak, or to even use the washroom for that matter.
Emotional and behavioral manipulation - Grading, Detention, Suspension, demand that you must be where you are told, when your told, at all times, lest the apocalypse happens.
Demands for absolute conformity to behavior prescriptions derived from the ideology - Only if you succeed at "do as your told" lessons for twelve years will you be granted freedom, because by then you will have introjected the narrative of reality the institution requires of you, and so will pose no threat to the order of things. You can protest all you like, your attendance record is enough to assure us that you have accepted that submission to the wishes of the institution is your lot in life.
Obsessive demands for confession- To the principles office young man....
Agreement that the ideology is faultless - If I am unhappy here, it is because I am mentally ill. My instinct for freedom is wrong/stupid/naive. I need an attitude adjustment.
Manipulation of language in which cliches substitute for analytic thought - Success and failure are predefined as graduation in a strange robed ritual and going off to college versus working at a gas station or Mcdonalds for the rest of your life
Reinterpretation of human experience and emotion in terms of doctrine - Don't be sensitive. Everyone has to go through this. Why, when I was your age....
Classification of those not sharing the ideology as inferior and not worthy of respect - If you do not do well at school, you are worthless. The people who get respect are those who add to the glory of the institution. Like kids that are good at sports. If you have trouble knowing what you are worth as a human being, the specially selected letter of the alphabet on your test sheet will give you, and your parents, all the information you need to know about what you can expect out of life, as well how well you deserve to be treated.
You know, humans do a lot funny things to each other when in captivity. They have ways of breaking each other down, of stratifying themselves into absurd and exaggerated hierarchical relationships, and then self-policing so that no population large enough can ever unify to figure out who, at root, their common enemy is. The fact that the police state is forming in America at this moment in history is an inevitability stemming from the fact that children have already been living in a totalitarian state from the very beginning:
