One other thing Shorty,
You will likely need to register your XBOX online (This means going to XBOX.com and registering an Account. The Account can be the same as one you configure for your XBOX to use live however it doesn't have to be. It's just in the account options you can register your XBOX, it's also the best way to communicate with Microsoft about any problems you might be having) , this will aid covering the Microsoft Warranty should the XBOX have any problems. Just remember if it does, Don't pull it apart, contact Microsoft and get them to send a box out, they should repair it free of charge.

styder, who is that dumb that if they dont want there kids to play they cant pick the controlers up and put them in the car or somewhere else the kids cant get to them????????????

so you think its definitly worth getting the wii syzygys even as a form of exercise?
as i said so far we have only played wii bowling and mario cart and they were quite low energy games (though fun)

Yes. Another article pointed out that with Wii Fit (for $90) you get more fun than signing up for a 3 months of gym membership. The Wii is actually really popular with adults, they buy it for their kids and they keep using it.

After all the Wii is the only original idea out of the 3. I bet the other 2 are going to bring out their motion sensor controller.

Oh yes Shorty, the Rockband and Guitar Hero are one of the biggest hits with the kids. (Wii is also going to get a similar game)

Wii already has Rockband.

PS1 had a motion sensor attachment which made for some really shitty flight sims if I remember rightly.

Shorty, you should get 1 month free live anyway with the new purchase. So far we had 1 RRoD but got it exchanged fast and painless. The pedal also broke on the Rockband, but got exchanged it as well.

I would also highly recommend Barbie™ Wild Horse Rescue™, it is free on live.....

Instead of Halo, consider Mass Effect. There is no pimping in Halo:

I think Microsoft is already working on a Sensor controlled system, basically removing the need for controllers altogether, however I could be wrong.. will find some info to confirm.

I just read an article about the upcoming Wii games, way more exciting than the other 2 consols. Last week I tried Wii tennis, it is actually a decent workout, specially if you have a large enough room.

http://www.gamepro.com/article/features/206400/21-upcoming-wii-games-to-drool-over/

We have the Xbox 360 and you should get live, $5 is nothing a month, and there are older arcade games you can only get online. I got Marbe Blast Ultra for $5, and it is excellent graphic and fun, specially for kids.

The only game I bought for myself for the consol is Ace Combat 6, just inbcredible flight simulator with almost real graphic. You don't need to shot anyone, you can just fly above terrains. With the live feature you can make up teams with your friends, and fight together.

Also check out gameshops with used games. I got Call of Duty 3 for $12, you don't need to spend $40 for each game all the time.

This is going to be one rainy weekend, so we are going to do a Wii/Xbox exchange with my friend...

Also, most games have downloadable demos online, so you can try before buying them.

Yeah I got the games at EB Games here. It sells new and used. I only buy the used ones, why pay double the price. They give you a 14 day guarantee on them anyway. I am a bargain shopper, I won't pay full price for anything if I don't have to.

I got Call of Duty 3 for $14.00 ( you beat me there)

Assassins Creed for $12.99 Halo 3 $29.99
and a couple other kids games Viva Pinata for like $ 4.99

I think I will check out the LIVE for 5.00 that's peanuts for entertainment these days.

Most of the trash talk on Xbox Live is actually from the 12 and 13 year olds. They like to call each other gay. Sometimes you'll get some idiot kid who thinks it's cool to say "fuck" or something. But I really doubt you'd be exposing your kids to anything they don't hear from their friends.

You can set up the voice communication so that you can hear the talking thru the TV so you can monitor what's going on so long as you're in the room.

Unlimited online play for $60 a year is a deal.

Ok...Yeah it doesn't sound like anything he isn't hearing in middle school. I think I might get him the LIVE for Christmas. I think that would be a cool present that he would like.

Shorty, the reason the XBox is half the price of the Sony is that you really do get what you pay for. ;)

I read that COD5 will be released 11/11.

I think you want to get something like EA sports fight night round 3
http://www.easports.com/fightnightround3/index.jsp
Ideal for multiplayer at home.

And I'd be wary of xbox live, sure it would be a lot of fun, but that's just it, it's too fun, why do anything else? Before you know it you have fat nerd children.

Yeah we have something similar for the old XBOX. I even like those games.
It releases my frustrations when I can beat the shit out of my B/F :D

My kids aren't gaming addicts. They like to go riding and skateboarding, basketball etc. They get more into it in the winter, because there isn't that much to do outside. They have to get homework and chores done too. If I think enough is enough, I tell them to wrap it up and they are cool with that.

There are some Party like games. I.e.
Fusion Frenzy (I & II)
Viva Piñata Party Animals
Thrillville (Allows one player to make themeparks, but all the minigames are potentially multiplayer)
Scene It?

I got the first Viva Pinata for 4.99 but he was kind of disappointed because you couldn't play against eachother offline. I saw the Party Animals I think that is going to be a Christmas present for the younger one.

Wow thanks for all the info about the Controls you can set on it.

Shorty, from what I hear Xbox's have real hardware problems, and are renown for getting the "red ring of death"

I play all my games on a PC, (and look down my nose at consoles :) ) but if I was going to buy one, I'd get a Wii...those motion-sensitive controllers look like fun for all.

Ok....I was thinking the other day, shit maybe I have to send in a Warranty or something. I will look back in the box and do that ASAP.

BTW: How many of you that have XBOX 360 have had major problems or the red rings of death?
My old XBOX has NEVER had anything go wrong and it's pretty old.

This is probably one of the reasons they really wanted this. I keep pretending it's wayyyyyyyyyy too expensive and I am NOT buying it for a long time.

I am keeping my eyes open for a good deal on them, because SANTA is coming soon. ;) (although the days of me leaving half eaten carrots and cookies on the floor are over):bawl:

Listen here Q lol if you post such things Nietzsche is going to say, yeah you tell her its crap!

He was against it, but has been on there for hours playing Assassins Creed

If I get the rings of death, I will NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT!! from you know who.

:roflmao:

He may have a valid point, though.

From the specifications, it does appear that Sony has gone the route of beefing up the hardware of the PS3. They claim the PS3 is the basis for what they say will be the "ultimate" console, the PS4. The XBox has specific rendering software which Sony has not emulated, but has given the XBox a sharp edge with games like their flagship, "Halo."

It's also been claimed that the XBox's limitations on its hardware (compared with PS3) will leave game developers wanting, hence they'll turn their attention to Sony and develop games the XBox simply won't be able to emulate.

It's often been said that the XBox is favored because it 'currently' has more games. It's also been on the market for well over a year before the PS3. However, the games that will be released over the next few years for the PS3 will be seeing the XBox take it's rightful place next to the Atari consoles. ;)

It's totally dependant, the chances of purchasing a Lemon are less than they were as the QA was greatly improved considering the cost of poor quality merchandise being repaired.

All I suggest is checking the back of your console for it's Birthdate and UIN. The UIN you'll need for registering on XBOX.com, the Birthdate you are going to want to make sure is Younger than August 2007. Ones earlier than that were more prone to fail. (August 2007 was when the Elite Came out and True HDMI capability, this is where the QA system had been improved)

I haven't had any problems with my xbox360, but it only gets used for about an hour per week.

And thats when the next console gets release

Microsoft will need to build a better console than the PS3, which isn't expected even with the release of the XBox720. The PS4 isn't expected to be released for another 7-8 years as the PS3's full capabilities and capacities will take that long for game developers to fully exploit.

The XBox360 currently IS fully exploited. ;)
