All would be Astronauts Apart from going into space on a rocket built by the lowest bidder you are going to loose bone density while you are up there

I had to read that, like, five times to get what you were saying. Punctuation!

To all would-be astronauts: Apart from going into space on a rocket built by the lowest bidder, you are also going to lose bone density while you are up there.

I think you have rather missed the point. It has been known for many years that prolonged weightlessness leads to loss of bone density.

The news, as I understand it, is that even after a 12 months back under 1g, the deficit has in most cases not been made up. That is interesting. I have read that bone growth is partly stimulated by piezo-electricity: the potential difference that develops from the stress a bone is under. Apparently this is not enough to repair all the bone loss, even after a year.

When I was taken by ambulance to Emergency Department I was in the department for 2 days

Not for anything life threatening, just waiting for a hospital bed. On second day the department lost my glasses so little bit handicapped typing on my mobile phone sorry

hope your on the mend

i expect living in space is simply not feasible because of how much bone density would be lost.

So no couple of hundred years journey to float off to Alpha Centauri galaxy?

:)
imagine child hood bone development
joint development
who knows what special immune developments happen from gravity
the air may be cleaner but life span might be half
digestive process in zero gravity may lead to all different types of cancer

the change in cranial vasculitory pressure may cause brain problems developmentally

digestive process in zero gravity may lead to all different types of cancer
This might be one way to solve any digestive problems

Safe deposit in poo bank
WHILE you might be thinking about banking your savings for later in life, US experts say we should also be thinking about banking our poo.

They propose that people could bank samples of their own poo when they are young and healthy for potential use in a poo transplant later in life to help rejuvenate the bacteria in their gut.

There is already one personal “poo bank” open in the US where people can bank their own poo for future treatment of gut infections.

The experts say more well-designed animal and human studies are needed.

Just before the intergalactic craft takes off

"Is all the shit loaded?"

"Yes Captain. All passengers droppings stored on the poop deck"

:)

The real news is : Astronauts (or comonauts or taikonauts) are loosing bone (i simplify).
But, what have those "astronauts" in commoon ?
Are they really representativ of the human kind ?

Do pygmys have the same problem in space ?
(Nobody will ever know if no pygmy is sent in space...)

Wikipedia said:
In anthropology, pygmy peoples are ethnic groups whose average height is unusually short. The term pygmyism is used to describe the phenotype of endemic short stature (as opposed to disproportionate dwarfism occurring in isolated cases in a population) for populations in which adult men are on average less than 150 cm (4 ft 11 in) tall.[1]

The term is primarily associated with the African Pygmies, the hunter-gatherers of the Congo Basin (comprising the Bambenga, Bambuti and Batwa).[2]

The terms "Asiatic Pygmies" and "Oceanian pygmies" have been used to describe the Negrito populations of Southeast Asia and Australo-Melanesian peoples of short stature.[3] The Taron people of Myanmar are an exceptional case of a "pygmy" population of East Asian phenotype.
