I firmly believe that trump thinks he is a messiah, maybe Jesus returned if he's delusional enough, which he clearly is.

The problem Dave is that millions of his followers believe that he is the Messiah and they do not care what he does, like Trump said himself, he could shoot someone in the head on the street and they will still believe he is the Messiah.

I put it to you Dave, what do we tell his followers so that they will reject Trump?

I am going to suggest that a "Messiah" may be a person who is being used by "god" to expedite his purposes for mankind.(I expect you may already know this and I am just catching up)

The "Messiah " may not need to be a good person ,just a tool in the hands of whoever thinks is "god"

If that is the case and enough people subscribe to that idea then it may be plausible to them that Trump is their man (is he playing along as well?)

Just because we can mostly see what a shitstain on humanity he is would not prevent them from seeing him as a Messiah(they may realize this themselves)

After all to deists it probably seems that humanism is tantamount to hubris(?)

Maybe not, actually. Do you know that Marshall Zhukov, the actual head of the Red Army in WW2, used to pack a spare set of underwear in his briefcase, in case he got arbitrarily detained and sent to the gulag? And Shostakovich used at one point to sleep outside, so that if they came for him in the night, his wife and children would not be disturbed. Stalin’s terror was appalling, not least for its utter arbitrariness.
