Could someone tell me what this is please? I have looked on google but to no avail. Thanks in advance

CH, I am perplexed. I went to google, searched for Anglo-Saxon heroic code, which I cut and pasted from your title thread. Here is the url:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Anglo-Saxon+Heroic+Code+&btnG=Search&meta=

The very first link of 14,600 links was this:
http://www.chass.utoronto.ca/~cpercy/courses/1001TierneyHynes.htm

Which contains in its first paragraph these words:
"The heroic ethos is commonly defined as a set of values which prioritise and glorify the valour of an individual. Old English society, contends Clinton Albertson, necessarily honoured a ‘heroic code’, as "ociety revolved around the strong, enterprising chieftain and his courageous band of followers."

What's the problem?

Xev: If it were pretty self-explanatory he wouldn't have been seeking an explanation. Surely that's pretty self-evident.

Well, evidently, that isn't self evident. She never would have suggested it was self explanitory if she felt it was self-evident that his seeking an explanation meant it wasn't self-explanatory.
I mean, that's obvious...

Read "Beowulf"

Indeed. It's pretty much like any other heroic code, but with lots of beer involved, which only serves to enhance the heroism. Have you ever tried to slay an ogre after swallowing a cask of ale? That's how heroic those guys were.

No, but I confused my boss with an ogre after a couple shooters.
Not a hard mistake to make, though.

"If it were pretty self-explanatory he wouldn't have been seeking an explanation"

I meant to a non-retard.

It's pretty easy to slay an ogre after swallowing a cask of ale. Ogres never had a head for alcohol.
