Hi, I'm taking the ACT next week and I'm wondering if someone could please give me a brief run-through of the solving of triangles using SIN, Cosin, and Tangent. I'd also like help on the law of cosines (or whatever the law is that helps you solve almost any triangle.) Adjacent (a) - the side which forms the acute angle. Opposite (o) - the side opposite the acute angle. sin a = o/h cosine a = a/h tangent a = o/a I'd also like help on the law of cosines (or whatever the law is that helps you solve almost any triangle.) Angles = A B C Sides = a b c a^2=b^2+c^2-2bc cos A b^2=c^2+a^2-2ca cos B c^2=a^2+b^2-2ab cos C

"Hi, I'm taking the ACT next week " I thought you were going to take some special fast train, or something. Can anybody explain to me what ACT SAT and other obscure names come from? Why can't you not write things like: "I am interested in goniometry" or "Probability is interesting, but I don't know how to ...." ACT, SAT, FCUK, DKNY, CK, ETC, ???? WTF?
I'm sorry about the topic name. I have no clue what ACT stands for, but I put "prep" to describe that I am preparing for the test. Thank you. Also, can someone explain the law of sines for me now too? Thanks....
