Ok, I have a sound blaster live! 24 bit sound card, and creative inspire t7900 7.1 speakers. What I am wondering is how do I plug in my microphone? Al the satelites plug into the subwoofer, and the subwoofertakes up the black, pink and green jacks on the sound card, laving the blue one free. My motherboard has free pink jacks, but I cant seem to geth the mic tom work with them now, which is strange seeing as it worked before I got the sound card. Any idea how I can get my mic plugged in and working?

Also, I just checked, the mic doesnt work when plugged into the free blue jack on the sound card. Its a generic mic i got for £3 in an office store.

I think your subwoofer's plugs should be in the black, green, and orange jacks instead. Those are the output jacks.

According to these pics, the pink plug is for the microphone.

Actually my sound crad doesn't have an orange jack. Just Blue, Black, Pink and Green. I just tried plugging the orange pin into the blue jack, but it doesn't work.

Ok. I thought you had a different card.

So for your card, you had everything plugged in right. And the blue jack is the one for the microphone. The only thing I can tell you now is to make sure Microphone is selected as the input in Creative's mixer. It's the Rec column all the way to the right on the mixer.

You can probably use your motherboard's microphone input as you were doing before you got the Soundblaster if you go into Sounds and Audio in Windows' control panel and change the default recording device to your old motherboard's soundcard in both the Audio and Voice tabs.

But I would use the SoundBlaster's mic input - it's probably slightly better quality.
