25% Mail Quote Remaining - Outlook issue

Well, it finally happened. I took time off for the holiday last week and didn’t check my email. (Unplugging is the best) So, this morning, I was informed by a coworker that my inbox is full.

I hope I didn’t miss any valuable messages from clients

It’s all resolved now, but I have been keeping up with cleaning out archived mail. *shrug*

outlook allows you to set priority on acceptance of emails, generated from auto functions
it disables your address and shows a small box explaining you are away and or the person does not have authority to send you an email.
simply by adjusting this ur it people can prevent you from being flooded by reply all type non specific emails.

people can still send you emails but they have to manually type your email address into a new mail message box opened as a new mail message.

sounds like your getting cattle class treatment from the IT manager.

lots of smaller companys are looking to out source as much as they can, and IT services look like money for nothing until they fall over & cant get back up to keep taking peoples money.
then they are like poor ol timmy cap n hand.

i have worked with managers whom have spent hours of their personal time at home going through their email inbox after taking a week off work.
They were getting around 30 to 50 emails every day not counting specific personal business emails about critical job requests.
It was normal for them to take around 2 weeks to catch up with their emails after taking 1 week off.
most of which was spent on their own time un paid.

utilizing IT to its maximum potential you must work collaboratively with the IT techs.
pedestrian & handbag service delivery metered against innovative cost reduction is a failure
you need to make sure your not part of that failing system. it is only a question of time before someone looses their job and the "idiot" sign is hung on someone as a permanent relationship value to the IT process.

doesn't print more money to make up for the loses in sales & service contracts and out of compliance costs.

you have to treat business like small children in a car that you are driving
always assume they will not put their seat belts on.

if IT are going to take over as driver of your email inbox, then they need to know what they are doing.

an operations manager should have called you on your private cell number to advise you that your email inbox was about to become full and the company was about to start losing money and could you please empty it as soon as you can,
in the meantime they will allocate more temporary space to your inbox storage capacity.

what a bunch of monkeys !
chimp off the old block
hay mavis, dont let those hoominz IT people near our bananas, they cant find their own _ss with both hands if you paid them

The head of our IT Dept is contacting me on Monday to resolve the issue. Apparently, I’m not the only one going through this. This reminds me of the “I want to speak to your manager!” meme.:D

And in trying to Google a remedy, is it me or do most suggestions seem totally useless? “Click settings then general then, deleted recovered items.” What? Lol None of these exist within my Outlook. I want a job in IT - like meteorologists, you have job security even when you’re constantly wrong and unhelpful.

Googling most computer/phone related problems starts with a simple answer that you've already tried that doesn't work. Next there are many posters saying they also have that same problem and most of the solutions don't work.

Lastly the developer says "we're working on it" and you notice that post is several years old.

I did it!! I figured it out!! I couldn’t take it anymore and found a folder that held all of my Outlook syncs that have taken place. There were over 2000 items in this folder, so every time I sync send/receive, it would make a notation of it in that folder. Well, I emptied the folder and deleted the trash. And it has stopped. Not one more error message since.

We will see if it lasts, but if it does, I might apply for an IT job :D

Congrats!

Congrats!
Thank you :D

When I saw how many items were in that folder, I do believe my mouth dropped open. Lol No matter how many files in sent or trash I would delete, that folder’s number was growing because it was based on how many times Outlook synced. Yet, Outlook reads it as a folder just like sent etc. That folder is hidden though, so I had to stumble upon it like I did today.

I’m freeeee!!

ut oh
cross your fingers they dont have an outlook server update over the weekend planned that has default roll back to 12 months ago.
the 1st report of an error on Monday morning and everyone's email systems goes back to the age of the dinosaurs lol
and your left with an empty beer glass at a cocktail party.

or a windows update
and your left playing tetrtis on your cell phone at your desk for half the day lol

when IT enacted the new storage size reduction and self clean policy business wide they should have been checking and editing the sync folders and had a simple conversation script walk through for all IT help desk staff to assist any employees.

but hey
who wants it done properly 1st time anyway
as long as its not your money thats being lost

Yeah Wegs, the sky is probably going to fall on your head but hey, let's hope for the best.

What does synchronizing folders mean in Outlook?
Synchronizing folders. ... “Synchronizing foldersis the generic term for when Outlook is sending and receiving messages and when (if your mail account type supports it) uploads changes to the mail server. Under certain circumstances this process can “hang” and indeed cause your computer to slow down quite a bit.Jan 19, 2016

fyi
some more compliant heavy companys IT folk tend to set copy all data on email group behaviours to back up things to prevent potential massive financial loss

what you describe is a copy all files setting to the folder
this quite clearly puts you in violation of US data storage and copy laws.

assuming the file is cloud based and a copy is not made on your laptop then your probably ok.
however, making(in this case) compliance based erroneous copys tends to place you in murky water that simply doesn't need to be there.

this is one of those things that tends to have the bay thrown out with the bath water in outsourcing company services to cost loss profit leveraged capitalist function.
more so with IT because each connection by a staff member to IT creates a cost and creates a ticket that must be measured to service KPI's

you want lean & portable, not ignorant and liable
lol

Checked my work email today and..... the warning is back. o_O

My dreams of becoming an IT tech are dashed.
