Trump 2.0

Just like FOX is "fair and balanced." It says so right there on their logo. Or the Democratic People's Republic of Korea! As democratic as it gets. Right there in the name.
Didn't Walter Cronkite always begin his broadcasts by announcing that he is both smart and honest?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Defense Department’s intelligence agency has paused observances of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Pride Month, Holocaust Days of Remembrance and other cultural or historical annual events in response to President Donald Trump’s ban on diversity, equity and inclusion programs in the federal workplace.

These guys really suck at the "not a Nazi" game.

Trump is changing Mount Denali back to McKinley. Obama changed it from McKinley in 2015, Denali is what the natives people of that area referred to it as.
Obviously Trump cannot have that so along with the Gulf of America, Canada and Greenland he continues to attempt to rewrite some geography.

So will this become a "change-the-name ping-pong" between successive Republican / Democrat Presidents? I guess that's one way to keep your cartographers employed... although you'd think if there were any Federally-employed cartographers that he'd not want to give them any work so as to sack them! ;)

Trumps idea of America seems to be on a par with Daniel Day Lewis character front "Gangs of New York."
He forgets his lineage quickly takes him to Scotland and Germany, thank heavens countries accommodate immigrants eh?

Is there no depth to which the felon-President, backed by his cronies, will not stoop.
When the country is still, presumably, getting to grips with the deaths of 67 people in the Washington DC crash on Wednesday, Trump has used the tragedy to attack DEI hiring policies that he says "could be" behind the crash. No evidence, just scapegoating. No evidence of what actually caused the crash, just take a swipe at the DEI policies, and of course big himself up in the process.

The man is human scum. No dignity whatsoever.

Another troubling aspect of this is that those who do the investigation into the crash (according to Trump it will be the FAA, NTSB, and military) will be Trump loyalists: FAA is Sean Duffy, who added his support about it beind DEI hires; and military is Hegseth, who similarly echoed Trump's blaming of DEI. So the only one Trump needs to be concerned about with regard not pushing his "blame DEI" agenda is the NTSB, chaired by a Biden pick, Jennifer Homendy, who has made no indication that she would be resigning any time soon. It's not that I expect the investigations by the FAA and military to blame DEI policies, but it's more a question of whether the US is now in such a state that reports from even these organisations can no longer be trusted to be impartial.

The man's a troll, turning every issue, however tragic and seemingly apolitical, into an opportunity to sow division, distrust and hatred .

The families of the dead must be appalled and enraged to find themselves used as a political weapon, less than 24hrs after their loved ones have met their deaths.

I note he devoted several minutes of his address to personal attacks on the outgoing Transport[ation] sec, Pete Buttigieg, saying he was a failure as a mayor and had run the FAA into the ground. I think he has smelt that Buttigieg is able and articulate enough to be a threat to him. He's therefore decided to attack him pre-emptively, so that any future criticism of him by Buttigieg can be dismissed as a personal grudge.

More about the crash...

From https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025/01/30/washington-plane-helicopter-crash/

"Staffing in the air traffic control tower at Washington, DC’s Ronald Reagan National Airport was abnormal at the time of a deadly crash, according to a report.

The Federal Aviation Administration found that staff levels were “not normal for the time of day and the volume of traffic”, in a preliminary report after 64 people were killed onboard a flight from Kansas which crashed into a military helicopter.

The controller who was directing helicopters was also instructing planes, even though these jobs are typically assigned to two people, The New York Times reported."

And this from one commentor from their Youtube clip of the NTSB press-conference, seems to sum up what Trump is trying to gaslight everyone away from:

"JANUARY 10 [typo - should be 20] - Trump fires the head of the Federal Aviation Administration, the department in charge of flight safety
JANUARY 21 - Trump freezes hiring for Air Traffic Controllers
JANUARY 22 - Trump disbands the Aviation Safety Advisory Committee
JANUARY 28 - Trump sends out a buyout/retirement demand to existing employees, removing experienced safety staff

JANUARY 29 - First American mid-air collision in 16 years

TRUMP DID THIS"

(source: comment by user @ONE-FOUR-THR33)

Note, I'm not saying that it is Trump's fault, and that his actions from 20/1 to 28/1 necessarily played a part, only that this helps highlight what he's avoiding by scapegoating DEI hires who were most likely still qualified for their roles, and by gaslighting everyone about the situation.
Of course, when if/when it turns out to be nothing to do with DEI hires, he'll say "well, I only said that it could be due to them".

What has Donald Trump done since he returned to office that has benefited maga cult in some tangible, measurable way? This is a question to them, did pardoning or releasing the most violent January 6th insurrectionists make you feel safer in your home? Did shutting down the Office of Gun Violence Protection make your kids safer at school? What about the freeze on cancer research or halting the operations and external communications from federal agencies like the FDA and CDC? Did stopping the aid we were sending to Ukraine and Taiwan put more food on your table? Did raising prices on your prescriptions make it easier for you to manage your medical treatment? Does shutting FEMA down make you worry less because you live in a state that has hurricanes and wildfires? Do you sleep better at night knowing that ice is raiding offices and schools?

Human garbage.
I was trying to tell people in a red state, in late 2015. I had friends who lived in and around NYC and who knew exactly who he was. A common misconception among conservatives was that New Yorkers disliked Trump because they're all left-leaning Democrats - no, they disliked Trump because he was a sociopathic ghoul. Everytime I think well that's a new low, can't get much lower than that, some new travesty arrives to remind me there is no bottom. My heart goes out to the loved ones of the crash victims.

This has become boring.

I'd rather watch soccer.

Back sometime when I'm even more bored.

You folks do such a good job.

Actually, I'm going to stick around. There's more fun available here than I suspected.

Stupid has its own aroma. I'm feeling kinda high.

Jan 30 - Trump blames DEI, Obama and Biden for the crash
Jan 31 - Trump, when asked if he will visit the crash site, replies "What’s the site? The water? You want me to go swimming?"

Haha.
