Hmm. Though an obvious political clash in the cast, I never thought of the fallout from Gadot supporting Israel and Zegler supporting Palestine.

And, yes, they should have gender-flipped the queen character for the sake of highlighting patriarchal oppression. The failure to do that years earlier in Once Upon A Time perhaps started a momentum in Walt culture that is now difficult to overcome. (For those emulating the isolated Lykov family lifestyle -- Disney owns ABC.)
