From all the murmur and buzz and cussing outrage on social media, we might believe that it's only just now, in two thousand twenty-four, Year of Our Lord, that the British people are coming to understand their Royal Family is, well, royalty.

Honestly, I thought y'all knew.

Did I miss something? Admittedly, if something happens in London it takes several days for the post to reach Manchester.
I will have a word with the under butler, he will keep an eye on the road.

I think Tiassa was on about old Chas 3 and Prince Willy receiving dosh besides that from the Crown Estate.
Their contracts with public bodies are said to include a £37.5 million agreement between the Duchy of Cornwall and the Ministry of Justice to lease Dartmoor Prison, and a £11.4 million deal between Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust and the Duchy of Lancaster to rent a London warehouse over 15 years to store ambulances.
The estates also reportedly charge the Ministry of Defence for access to moor boats and refuel warships, some state schools to use their properties, and a local borough council to operate a toll bridge.

**** **** ****
Something not mentioned on the Channel 4 programme, was that if you die in Cornwall without instruction as to what's to be done with your estate, and no next of kin, then your estate goes to Chas. It usually goes to the government eslewhere. But, Chas lets everyone know that part of his charity work is giving that money to local charities. He worked so hard to come by that money.
It was once mentioned on the Duchy website the amount was something like two million a year, now the amount is not mentioned. Check out that site below.
Bona Vacantia and the Duke of Cornwall's Benevolent Fund
The Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund

In Cornwall when an individual dies with no will or surviving relatives their property (or ‘estate’) passes to the Duke of Cornwall. The same is true on the dissolution of a company registered in Cornwall where any remaining assets pass to the Duke of Cornwall. This is known as bona vacantia. After any discretionary payments have been made, His Royal Highness chooses to donate all monies from bona vacantia to the Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund, which he established in 1975 to benefit local communities in the South West of England.

Add me to the list of people that were already aware that the Royal Family are, well, royalty.

Not sure of what's been going on in the world of social media that this came up, though. Ah, well. :)

Killed my TwitFace account right after Trump was elected. Don't have a clue as to what you're talking about

Channel 4 apparently revealed the royals to be terrible landlords. And even though it's all ridiculous, it's a monarchy, so maybe people are just pretending shock because Labour is in charge.

Maybe, in the end, I'm just groaning at a bunch of rightists. It's Elon's algorithm, after all, that seems to think I care about any of this.

See Foghorn↑, above.

(So, I take I should probably go back to writing longer topic posts; the concision of expectation is its own risk for thin reward.)

Sheesh, you turn your back for a split century and suddenly they're royalty again. I blame the losing of our religion.
