USA Huricane Season & Climate Change exactly as predicted

Climatologists predicted the warming climate would raise sea temperatures around shallow waters more, resulting in fueling Hurricanes to add strength to them instead of the land mass reducing strength.

Hurricane Dorian seems to be following that pattern.

while it may not sustain the high level of energy because it may sit on the land as it dies out it has the possibility to deliver more rain than previously encountered by faster moving hurricanes.

This will change the storm surge by slightly increasing the number of tides which will give higher sea levels to coastal and low lying areas.
there is a possibility that given the longer term saturation that it could potentially increase the amount of inland water level rise slightly.
this slight rise may come as a surprise however it would seem fairly logical.

sand bagging...
why are there people manually filling individual sand bags from big piles ?
why is there not a military sand hopper dispensing sand to bags ?

ply wood paneling for windows
this should be recycled and preferably treated to prevent mold and bacteria build up.

increased humidity will directly cause more respiratory issues for people with existing respiratory issues.

state officials are recommending
7 days worth of food, water, toilets, sanitary products(they didn't mention these specifically) and most importantly medicines.

i expect they will create policing lines to allow policing to prevent looting.

i expect this will serve as an example for coordinated response to what may be a regular annual event

my guess... is based on IF it gains more energy might make landfall around Coco beach and then slow down and stall out on the peninsula

chaotic sst....will, most likely, weaken the storm once it clears the Bahamas
(all is a guess)

i am unsure about the effect of land temperature and shallow water temp as it rises ... does it create more energy loss to the hurricane as it looses energy pushing against a denser zone ?

anecdote:
circa 1982-3
Job fair in DC
offered a professorship at UNC Wilmington
and I said: "Wow, hurricane central"
The interviewer seemed annoyed by that comment.
(tasteless and insensitive?)

& Golfing conditions were so pristine it was irresistible
bit of exercise is a good thing...

current models predict awful lie in the rough with a fair bit of sand being blown around

It appears according to recent news that Dorian is effectively stationary...
A crazy thought/question: Is it possible that the storm could be come fully self sustaining and stay put indefinitely?

indefinitely
self sustaining

saturns storm of a thousand years etc ... ?
need some physicists and climatologists to run the data.
would require a lot of random changes and the general action of weather would likely have to change.
if there was a more dramatic shift in the polar stream which sent a back eddy down the east coast or across the land out into the sea, then it might act as a feeder thermal and yes.
the prevailing wind from the east could feed the downstream and then you would have a hurricane 3 or 4 sitting off Florida for months on end instead of a massive hurricane season.

though given it becoming stationary makes it a lot easier to modify
cloud seeding in certain spots by mass air drop would probably collapse it.
equally applying orbital wide beam lasers(solar reflectors) to certain parts to give it energy.
if you had several orbital lasers, running in sequence you might be able to target one specific part of the eye for a day or soo and possibly collapse the eye resulting in the hurricane collapsing its primary circular momentum, however, if that increased the energy then it might make it bigger. it would also help to turn it slightly.

interesting!
It could also be used as a constant energy sink and provide climate stability to the rest of the hemisphere.

turning heat into circular motion might help.
but the process is somewhat co-dependant
self sustaining it would simply maintain a process that may not be ideal
example
where it is.
would eventually wipe out all fish breeding areas
while it may help give nutrients into the water, it equally could spawn massive algae blooms that then land up the entire east coast wiping out the fish and marine life and poisoning thousands of people including fresh water catchment areas inland etc

its mad science at its best

Nope. A large part of the energy for the storm comes from the energy of the surface water, which in turn comes from the sun. Block out the sun for a while -> surface cools.

well...
it has weakened to a Category 3
that's good i guess
however, my suspicion is that as it looses energy it may tend to move more westward.
that's good if it stalls out as it goes toward the coast.
i was pondering if as it transits the gap between the Bahamas and Florida will it maybe gain more energy ?
that would be good that it then may head north but then bad as it will be more force delivered up the coast line.

cnn picture below sure does look quit big

Dorian has traveled only 30 miles in 30 hours
From CNN's Brandon Miller

Hurricane Dorian has traveled the second-shortest distance in 24 hours by a major hurricane (Category 3 or stronger) since modern records began in 1850, according to Colorado State hurricane researcher Philip Klotzbach.

The shortest on record is Hurricane Betsy in 1965, which traveled only 12 miles over the Atlantic.

Dorian spent most of the last couple days pounding the Bahamas as it moved at a speed of 1 mph or slower across the Atlantic. The stats show that from midnight Monday through Tuesday morning, the storm crawled just 30 miles in 30 hours.

The 185 mph maximum sustained winds from Dorian makes it the second-strongest storm, by wind speed, since 1950 in the Atlantic basin.

It is the strongest hurricane ever to make landfall in the Bahamas.
