There is also the debt scandal surfacing, and the partisan political stuff that was held back from the committee.
Kavanaugh's possibly headed for impeachment from his current office.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg lamented the Supreme Court confirmation process for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, saying last week she wishes she could “wave a magic wand” and have the process “go back to the way it was.”

Speaking at the George Washington University Law School on Sept. 12, Ginsburg called the hearings a “highly partisan show” and “wrong.” She noted the vote on her confirmation was 96 to 3, despite her spending “about 10 years of my life litigating cases under the auspices of the ACLU.”

The question obtains
Did we elect congress to represent the people?
or
Did we elect congress to represent a political party?

Does that seem to be what is happening?
In terms of the Kavanaugh appointment? Yes. Christine Ford is one of the people of the United States. Appointing him without hearing about what he's done in his past to the people does not serve the people.

So, you would dismiss Ruth Bader Ginsberg's words out of hand when Justice Ginsburg called the hearings a “highly partisan show”?

Nope. She is surely entitled to her opinion.

Do you think that accusations of attempted rape should be suppressed? Or should they be heard and investigated?

She's totally correct. If the proper nonpartisan procedures were followed, Obama would have gotten his nominee into the confirmation process. And Kavanaugh wouldn't get confirmed until all parties had a chance to review his work.

I do not think that that is what's gonna happen.
Looks like it's happening:

Public hearing for Kavanaugh, accuser set for Monday

PUBLISHED: SEP 17TH, 2018 - 8:18AM (EDT)
UPDATED: 9 MINUTES AGO
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing next Monday with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the woman accusing him of sexual assault when they were teens.

That's according to the GOP chairman, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who announced the hearing Monday "to give these recent allegations a full airing."

Grassley had tried to have the panel's staff conduct phone interviews with both Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford. But Democrats rejected the private interviews and want the FBI to investigate the allegations as part of the nominee's background investigation.

Grassley says "anyone who comes forward" as Ford has done "deserves to be heard."

Kavanaugh denies assaulting the woman. The White House says he "looks forward to a hearing where he can clear his name."

Good. A better chance for the truth to come out.

The GOP doesn't get to ignore democratic norms and then act all huffy about it when it doesn't serve them.

legal drinking age
when I was 16 I got arrested for underage drinking ---the bail and fine were identical ($25---15 and 10)
(Wild guess)
The people at the alleged drinking party were all in violation of the laws at that time.
accurate?
..........................
Circa 1966: During one of the graduation parties, the police raided the party and arrested the people of legal drinking age for contributing to the delinquency of a minor(several minors actually)

If it's ok to get away with underage drinking, it's ok to get away with underage rape? I say rape should only be legal if you were drunk at the time, since intoxication is obviously the more serious offense.
