Poland

Apparently some Poles formed a Republican Party, and it found a way to gain a 50%+ House majority with about 38% voter support, after which it could bust out the country

I was just reading into it, these guys promised cushy state jobs for their supporters and that's why they've moved to clean out the civil service and put their own people in. Personally I'm fed up with the old school 2-party first past the post system- this is what it ultimately produces, authoritarian governments with unlimited power, elected on a minority vote.

freedom never dies to the sound of bullets and bombs but to the sound of a cheering mob.

Two party (or multi-party) with first past the post seems to e fine in U.S.A, U.K., Canada, etc. What is needed is an independent judiciary which has the power o check overreach.

Poland had an independent judiciary too, but the ruling party has simply ignored the judiciary and constitution as it pleases, and there's nothing built into the system to stop the same thing from happening in the US or Canada if a large enough minority supported such moves.

Highly unlikely in US. FBI, military and others are sworn to uphold the law, so court orders will be obeyed, even if against popular opinion.

in Poland, the ruling party tried to evicerate the judiciary of communist holdovers by lowering the mandatory retirement age.

Ain't no mandatory retirement age for our(us) supreme court.

Whose law are they upholding and who interprets it? President Trump says the FBI is run by a pack of liberal spies.

They don't live forever, though.

My golden locks Time hath to silver turnd.
O Time too swift, O swiftness never ceasing!
My youth 'gainst time and age hath ever spurnd,
But spurnd in vain. Youth waneith by increasing.
Beauty, strength, youth, are flowers but fading seen,
Duty, faith, love, are roots, and ever green.
