Here is the article about sad the shooting.

Wayne LaPierre the president of the NRA in a statement to the press stated that "this is exactly why more guns are needed". He further added that "denying gun ownership to toddlers is clearly a violation of the sacred 2nd amendment. If the other toddlers had conceal carry they could have possibly stopped this before the second child was shot!"

LaPierre was later seen hiding naked in some shrubbery, where he stated that he was doing 'research'.

And yet some Americans are afraid to visit Europe because of terrorism.....

We have such difficulty assessing relative risk.

The main purpose of a gun is to kill in a cowardly way !!!!

Obviously, I can't speak for Origin on this point, but it reads to me like something of a cynical joke about an industry lobby perpetually calling for policy results that increase its industry's profits, because in the end that really is the NRA's outlook: Everything is good when everyone is heated.

And let's face it, a cynical joke is probably better than pointing out the dangers of trusting those who advocate arms races. That is to say, simply reminding that another mass shooting is a good day for Wayne LaPierre and the NRA tends to offend people straightaway. At least this way, they sputter through disbelief before deciding to be offended about that, instead.

Or something like that.

I always thought the general outline of viciously absurdist humor was pretty straightforward. I mean, what does it look like if we actually do the Aristocrats for the NRA? Isn't that downright effing dangerous?

IMHO Only idiots and the mentally ill would leave a weapon where children could get their hands on it.
Call it "criminal negligence"? I would hope that the daycare facility loose it licence, and the owner of the weapon be charged.
Sadly, it seems that the parents of the children in daycare had entrusted their offspring to the care of the mentally ill or challenged.

IMHO Using examples of the actions of the mentally challenged or mentally ill as a means of abrogating other's rights is disingenuous on a good day. And simply dishonest on any other day.

Given that gun safety instructors regularly shoot themselves (even their students) while teaching gun safety - and the children of cops regularly get their hands on their parent's weapon - I tend to doubt that. I think it's something that gun owners tell themselves to feel better. "Well, I don't have to worry about that, because I am not an idiot!" Until it happens to them.

By those standards, you trust your life to cops that are (apparently) mentally ill.

OK. Instead I will use examples of cops and gun safety experts.

==========
On 9 April 2004, a DEA agent (who has not been identified by name in press accounts) delivered a presentation on gun safety to about 50 adults and students at an event sponsored by the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association. Partway through his lecture, the agent picked up his .40-caliber duty weapon and held it up for the audience to see as he announced: “This is a Glock 40. Fifty Cent, Too Short, all of them talk about a Glock 40, OK? I’m the only one in this room professional enough that I know of to carry this Glock 40.” Seconds later the gun discharged, wounding the agent in the thigh.

(2014) A member of the Hewitt Police Department is recovering from surgery for a self-inflicted gun-wound. Sgt. Heath Vaneck -- the Hewitt Police Department's firearms instructor -- shot himself in the left hand with his own personal 9 mm pistol. Vaneck was teaching his family how to clean and shoot the semi-automatic pistol on July 15, when he accidentally shot himself, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported. He declined to comment about the incident.
==========
(2013) Michael Piemonte was attending a concealed-carry class with his wife Alison in central Ohio's Fairfield County over the weekend. Such classes are required for anyone wanting carry a concealed weapon in the state.
There were 29 students in the lecture-type class, Piemonte said. He was sitting in the front row. While the instructor was demonstrating a self-defense techniques, the gun went off. The bullet struck Piemonte in the arm.

You have found 6 examples over a 10-11 year period.
And it took me about 60 seconds.

All examples of mentally ill idiots, apparently - even though they are cops and gun safety instructors, considered to be some of the more competent weapons handlers around. Interesting.

I believe one way to accommodate weapon lover is to make a one bullet gun then reload, eliminate the 8 shooter or the automatic pistol, and no civilian should own military weapons.

As I have said before, the difference is that automobiles are useful.

If anthropogenic global warming is your goal, then automobiles are, indeed, very useful.

"EIA estimates that U.S. motor gasoline and diesel (distillate) fuel consumption for transportation in 2016 resulted in the emission of about 1,102 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) and 437 million metric tons of CO2, respectively, for a total of 1,540 million metric tons of CO2. This total was equal to 82% of total U.S. transportation sector CO2 emissions and equal to 30% of total U.S. energy-related CO2 emissions in 2016."
