Why do my posts have to be approved by a moderator?

I have recently had posts without any links sent to the mod queue as well, so something seems to have changed, but not necessarily for the better.
 
I've had at least a half-dozen posts queued with no common connection whatsoever. Links, no links, inline pictures, attachments, text only. Something else I noticed which might explain quite a bit. Look at the bottom of these threads at how many people have viewed them. With a little inspection it's clear that 80% of those names are completely BOGUS. Perhaps the website is on the brink of collapse from Spam and they've cranked up the Spam-filter?

For whatever it's worth, the only time I have had anything queued is by using quick reply instead of advanced. Regardless of links or no links or any other criteria I can identify.

I post some innocuous text such as "mod queue food", then once it has posted I go and edit the post pasting in that I had originally typed out as my reply. It's an extra annoying step but it is less annoying than having to wait for posts to be approved. Especially in subforums where the sole moderator hasn't logged in for years.

EDIT: And why couldn't this comparatively useless post have gone into the queue instead of the one I just tried to submit to the philosophy forum? Figures...

EDIT2: Oh, and by the way, do these posts actually get approved eventually, or do they end up hanging out with lost socks, pens and guitar plectrums for all eternity?
 
I get that if my post has lost of links in it. I'm guessing its a little safety device to free up mods from the endless task of deleting advertisements for nike shoes and iphones

Did any of your posts that ended up in the queue eventually appear? I'm trying to work out if I should be trying to resubmit, or not.
 
It has happened to me 3 times so far and I think on one occasion it did actually come through .... still a bit unclear since the thread was quite busy at the time with different posters
 
Test post including the word explicit, since I used it in the post I was trying to submit (although not in any context relating to inappropriate material).

EDIT: Well, it wasn't that.
 
it was in the abortion thread that went viral recently

Just split a post that was also getting redirected in the same manner to several paragraphs and found out that the only paragraph it was having problems with was the part with several links - all to the scifroums site by the way -
