My uncle gave me a Rottweiler puppy, very cute,
it has tail now, but normally Rottweiler's tail was cut off,
do I need to do that?
I am not sure why many Rottie's pictures show them not having tails?

No. You don't need to do it. In some places it's actually illegal to do it.

Dogs have a tail for a reason. It's not a horrible growth that needs cutting off.

There's no need to crop their ears either.

no, you do not need to cut off your dogs tail.
you didn't ask but you also do not need to crop his ears.

chickens however are a different story.

Isn't it awesome to see them flopping around headless? They are only stupid chickens anyway, right?
i chased one for half a block.
the hard part is ripping out the feathers.
helps to stick 'em in some boiling water for about 5 minutes but then all the downy feathers stick to the bird.

Tail docking is actually banned or illegal in many countries around the world. And there is a reason for it. It is cruel and painful to the dog and amounts to animal cruelty as it is normally done in the first few days of the puppy's life (usually within 15 or so days) and is done without without anesthesia. The breed actually looks better with the tail:

Considering the tail is used by dogs as a way to communicate, why would you want to cause it pain to deform it?

Rottlweiler tails are docked to fulfil breed standards for "show" dogs

AKC breed standard for rottweiler tails:

Tail--Tail docked short, close to body, leaving one or two tail vertebrae. The set of the tail is more important than length. Properly set, it gives an impression of elongation of topline; carried slightly above horizontal when the dog is excited or moving.

[I've read that their tails used to be docked because they "got in the way" during hunting season, but I don't know how far that is true]

Unless you are breeding show dogs I don't see why you need to dock the tails. Moreover, puppy tails are usually docked when they are a couple days old, after which it is a more painful process since the bones get set.
